Demon's cleansing

For the most part the Faeveil is mostly harmless if you stay away from it, but sometimes the dangers that it hold find a small crack in it's protection and manage to force themselves through.    One such time a trio of demons broke through and ravaged 8 blocks of the slums before the military stepped in and killed the demons, they were however too late.   The streets were covered in blood and limbs, almost 800 people died at the hands of just 3 lower ranked demons.  The soldiers that killed the demons, their job finished, simply left the destroyed slums without looking back. This enraged the surrounding slums, their people were being slaughtered whilst the soldiers took their sweet time coming to their aid and after they finally showed up there was not much too save and the soldiers just turned their back on the people.    After this clear sign of not putting any value in their lowerclass workers the people banded together and stormed to the gate of the first ring, holding vandalized banners and bags of stones that were eagerly thrown at the bannermen up atop the walls.  The upper court saw this and decided to give a clear showing of force, to have them see that their soldiers are the only one capable of stopping the destruction of the demons but also to show that if they wanted they could be plenty demonic themselves.    A platoon moved out a day later under the guise of a demon containment drill, but in reality the acted out the demons themselves and razed twice as much as the actual demons did. Thousands died as they were "cleaning up the demons" leaving many without a family or siblings who suddenly had to adopt the role of a parent.   The tactic worked as it struck fear into the hearts of the commonfolk and they were too scared to even gather in small groups out of fear of immediately being made another example of, but at the same time their resentment of their kingdom grew inside of shady alleyways, dark corners and basement hideouts leading up to an inevitable clash....some day.
