Lower Ukish

Lower Ukish is a harsh land not for the faint of heart. The days are hot, dusty, with little shade and the nights are cold and long and full of terror. Home to the orcs, goblins, tieflings and the like, Ukish is known as the melting pot location for all the "untrustworthy" races. Forced here to survive, the people who found a way to live in this unwelcoming land are now just as unwelcoming to newcomers. Robbery occurs frequently on traveling parties and the only place that is considered peaceful is the capital, Izgardril.

Geography

The terrain showcases inselbergs on hard, red/brown clay waste. Surrounded by mountains, very little survives as rain rarely comes and never in large amounts. Lots of myth surrounds the original creation of the inselbergs striking terrain, many have now become sacred in the eyes of the locals. Small settlements are scattered throughout, usually with a smaller inselberg at the center, that each contain their own race.

Ecosystem

Very little can grow in Lower Ukish. Wood is hard to come by and standard crops barely grow. The most prevalent flora is thorny bushes that is frequently used as fencing or barriers to settlements due to its dense bramble nature. Raining only for a short while and far between, most towns operate off animals that are raised for food. These animals are much smaller and scrawnier than normal, and the residents reflect this. To offset the lack of growable food, scavenging trips occur frequently to gather resources from the surrounding area and towns. However, the main scavenging occurs on unsuspecting travelers.

History

While the residents of Ukish get along in the trade settlement, Izgardril, due to their inherent nature, very few races coexist in this area. Travelers are always warned to stay on the main road and only stop for long periods in the main city. (lets just say there is a lot of midnight robbery on the road). While not all the folks behave like this and try to earn an honest living, the vast majority are scavengers in some way. Many dwellings are made from scrap material from the Great War, making the already striking terrain even more of a scene. With rusted, large plates of metal, and carriages using large gears for wheels since wood is hard to come by, this land is very out of place to the rest of the world. Making it even less of a destination spot for travelers.
