The Legend of the Fist of Tor Myth in Iatar | World Anvil

The Legend of the Fist of Tor

Legend has it that just before leaving Iatar forever, Tor bestowed upon his Champion a legendary weapon, The Fist of Tor. The weapon was meant to carry the very essence of Tor's Fist within it, the very fist used to defeat Dracaris, the Dragon during The Great Clash, securing liberation for all mortal-kind. It was meant to serve as a reminder to any enemy of justice that Tor's will still held power on Iatar, and bestowed upon the bearer the strength of body, and of mind, to carry out Tor's will.   Supposedly, it was created from the actual physical hand of Tor, and was given to the first Arbiter in the first year of the Temporal Era. It was used throughout The Restoration to aid in the Order of Tor's mission to cleanse the world of Chaos, but sometime during The Long Peace, it was lost to the Order, and has never been regained.   Since that time, the Order have fashioned their weapons after the legendary Fist of Tor, with Paladins and Clerics of the Order carrying steel maces with the head in the shape of a fist. They are but shadows of the original, though they do serve as a constant reminder to what the Order stands for, and that Tor himself is by their sides.   Two major theories exist as to the Fist's current whereabouts. Many believe that the Fist was lost in an attempt to re-establish Torshold as a centre of power for the Order, and that it may lie underneath the ruins of the old fortress there. Some have attempted to search the ruins, but the many iterations of building on that stronghold have left it quite difficult to discern the original design, much less the likely location for the Fist's resting place.   Some others believe, in much quieter circles mind you, that the large stone fist behind the Arbiter's Throne in the Temple of Tor at Torgos is the solidified Fist of Tor. They say that Tor is waiting for a new Champion to wield the Fist, and that when the Champion arrives to claim the weapon, it will reform into the mace of legend.
