Untitled story- prologue

With pink bags under her blue eyes, the new queen of Eoberona forced a smile and looked out to her citizens. So many were mourning, none more than her, but mourning nether the less. She started to tremble and felt the weight of the world crumble upon her shoulders.

“Warda?”

She looked to the side and felt the squeeze of her husband’s hand on hers.

“You can be sad,” he squeezed her hand tighter and kept looking forward.

“I know, Sandu, I know. It’s just, Rose,” Warda looked to her other hand and at her daughter that clung onto her. Despite her love for her child, her ginger head and honey brown eyes made her a spitting image of a woman Warda wasn’t in the mood for remembering.

“She’s ten and had to witness her own grandparent’s assassination yesterday and now she is forced to be in front of a crowd of this mass. I need to be strong, if not for my country, then for my daughter.”

Sandu leaned over, “You’re the queen, silly, you can just make her leave!”

“I know but I want to keep an eye on her.”

“Your majesty,” One of the palace guards leaned over, “Would you like to address the country now?”

Warda nodded her head and brushed her brunette locks out of her face and readjusted her gold and pink crown.

“I know that yesterday was a day of panic and tragedy,” Warda spoke out the crowd below and to the hidden microphones on the terrace railing. “I, for one, know this more than most but we mustn’t let acts of terrorists tear down our country from the inside out. We may believe that out trust for each other is broken and there is no hope, but as long those who hurt our country are still alive and kicking, I will never surrender my crown and that is a promise!” She looked directly at the small, flying camera in front of her with the determination of a lioness protecting her children.
