When Edvard was born, he was placed into a future of wealth, success and anything that he could ever dream of thanks to his parents, Hans Lundell and Oleana Söderberg, that were born into nobility. When he was two, his younger sister, Aurora Hansdotter, was born. two years later, his father randomly fainted whilst playing with his children. After the physicians took a look at him, they claimed that Hans had smallpox. He died later that year and from that point on, their mother seemed to have gone insane and started to be incredibly abusive and toxic to her children, yet the suffering widow in public.
Edvard and Aurora became close with one of the maids, Fia Kurtdotter. Fia started to help the two around, such as when their mother refused to give them food, she would sneak them some snacks from the kitchen, or when they made a mess in their rooms, Fia would rush to covertly clean it up with them before Oleana found out. She would also tend to their wounds after their mother decided to "punish" them or act as someone for the children to confide in.
As they grew up, it became clear that Oleana started to favour Edvard and gave him more admiration, as well as punish Aurora as "punishment" for Edvard's misbehaviour. When there was doubt as to who did what, Aurora would always take the hit, even when Edvard pleaded that it was him who did it.

When Edvard turned 14, his mother started looking into other noble families that had daughters that she could offer money and goods in exchange for Edvard marrying the girl when Edvard was grown up. Edvard didn't really have a problem with this as he already decided that he would just treat her as a close friend until she was an adult and felt comfortable around him. What Edvard didn't like about this custom was how Aurora was affected by this.
She was first subjected to Oleana's searching when she was only 10 years old. Instead of her talking to a child's parents, their mother decided that Aurora should marry someone as soon as possible, and preferably someone older that was already highly respected. So what would happen would be Aurora spending time in a room alone with these men for a couple hours at a time and come out very distressed and upset.
Aurora would never explicitly say what happened, but Fia would give Edvard an explanation that he never understood until he started reading "grown-up books" and from that point on, he became very over-protective of his sister and started to question the men before they were even able to see Aurora. His mother got very irritated but he justified his behaviour by claiming that he "wanted to make sure that they were right for Aurora."

When Edvard was 16, his mother came to him at night, telling him to take Aurora and meet her at the carriage outside the mansion. His mother took them into a nearby lake on an old boat. Oleana instructed Edvard to tie Aurora's hands and feet together and then drown her in the lake.
Since Edvard is a N E R D, he recalled reading about people that believed that sirens were created from women that had their hands and feet tied, and then thrown overboard a ship, usually for an unjust reason. These sirens are usually created from a thirst for revenge.
Edvard decided to tighten the ropes around her feet, yet loosen the ones around her hands. He didn't want to show any remorse in hopes that Aurora would want revenge more, and hopefully that would increase her chances of surviving the drowning.
He didn't believe in magic but always had hoped that somewhere, his sister was alive and doing well in this new life. A little while afterwards, he started to feel very depressed and found a journal and just started writing about that night and all of the secrets he kept hidden. Two years later, Oleana discovered this journal whilst snooping around Edvard's room.
She was infuriated that Edvard was hoping to save his sister and then took him out to the lake that night to kill him the same way out of anger. He later woke up in Eoberona's Hospital, and the rest in history.

Edvard has a somewhat high-pitched voice and it seemed to stop developing when he was around 17. Although he doesn't have constant voice cracks as a usual 17-year-old would, he gets them when highly stressed or caught off guard. Sometimes he gets picked on for this, but it is always in good nature and he never takes offence.
He also has a very thick Swedish accent, of which he tried to accentuate for as long as possible so it sticks with him.
