Kakariko Village

Demographics

Most of the population of Kakariko Village is Shiekah, as it has been for centuries. There are a few Hylian families who live in the village, as well as the occasional Goron that wanders down from Death Mountain to trade.

Government

Kakariko Village is governed by a head Matriarch, an older, wise Shiekah woman.

Industry & Trade

Most of the people of Kakariko Village are farmers, tending to crops and livestock. The village is famous for its high-quality pumpkins, carrots, and corn, and also exports animal products such as milk, wool, and meat.

Infrastructure

Many farms and gardens surround the village, providing food for those who live there and occasionally enough to send off to be traded down the gravely dirt road to Ingot. There are also a few windmills here and there, and a blacksmith or two. Near the center of town stand a few shops selling clothes, farming supplies, and even a very small adventurer's shop with perhaps a magical item or two in its stock.

Guilds and Factions

It's rumored that Kakariko Village used to be the headquarters for a prominent Shiekah guild, tasked with protecting the royal family of Hyrule, but no one has seen or heard from them since the royal bloodline failed.

History

Kakariko probably most famously known to be the birthplace of the original Impa, protector and guardian of Princess Zelda. Even before the reincarnation cycle was broken, this started a tradition in Kakariko of having young Shiekah pledge themselves to become guardians, almost bodyguards, of one person of their choosing.

Architecture

Most of the structures and homes in Kakariko Village are made of wood and mud plaster walls, with stone walls around pastures and farmland.

Geography

The village is surrounded by harsh, rocky mountains that seem to form walls around the main section of Kakariko, with one large, winding trail that leads from the village up to Death Mountain.
