The Circurkalo
The Circurkalo is an annual event where the Cirwin and Curcura tribes meet at the Kaloe lake. There is no specific date for when it happens, only that it is during the dry season. Generally it happens around the midpoint of the dry season. Which tribe serves as the 'host' rotates with each year. The host tribe arrives at the Kaloe lake and sets up the area, sending a messenger bird (Bearded Vulture for Cirwin, Martial Eagle for Curcura) to the other tribe with a small totem to signal that it is time for the Circurkalo. Once both tribes are present the lions of the Cirwin and buffalo of the Curcura are kept isolated at separate ends of the lake for safety, although they have been trained not to fight in the first place it serves as an additional way to prevent incidents. Cirwin elephants have their tusks marked by red paint while the Curcura mark theirs with blue paint to prevent any confusion.
In addition to the exchange of goods and ideas, it is also when marriages are conducted. Cirwin are only allowed to marry Curcura and vice versa, it is not allowed for a Curcuran woman to marry another Curcuran, and marrying someone who belongs to neither tribe is especially forbidden. Marriage negotiations make up a large part of the Circurkalo. It is common for women to be married to the same man as their sisters. Some families make specific arrangements to only marry with each other, these deals are typically made to last only a few generations at most. Due to the exogamous nature of the marriages, the Circurkalo is considered both a time of parting and reunion.
Performances and contests are also a significant aspect of the Circurkalo. The performances celebrate cooperation between the Cirwin and Curcura, while the contests are a comparison between them of skill and strength. Most performances consist of song and dance while the contests focus on athletics. Since the focus is on relations between the Cirwin and Curcura the presence of outsiders is not well received. Any visitors not of the two tribes will be treated with lower priority than they would have been if present at any other time.
When the Circurkalo comes to an end it is the host tribe that leaves first. The other tribe clears out the area and waits for several days before leaving the Kaloe lake.
