A Natural History of Brunivard

Scholars among the giants native to Brunivard have assembled several books, scribed and illustrated on vast sheets of vellum in the traditional style, to describe the most significant wild animals and plants that one might encounter in the wilds of that enormous planet. Together, this body of work forms an overview of the plants and animals most significant to the native giants.   A Natural History of Brunivard is a derivative work, scaled for humanoid readers, translated with copious notes, which collects the illustrations and knowledge from the original giant editions and supplements it with further research. This project is maintained by the library of Sage Belthinor in Rothilimion and the research is ongoing. (The research team of Sage Belthinor will pay well for new information about the creatures of Brunivard.) Procuring a new edition of this text is considered the logical first step in mounting any expedition to Brunivard. It could also be considered useful background information when treating with members of the giant tribes from that world.   Note that descriptions and names are in translation from the original Brunivard giant dialects. For example, you might see descriptions of creatures like Giant Crabs, which reference makes sense for humanoids from Liggjavard. After all, for the giants, they are just crabs.
While by no means comprehensive, the illustration plates show some of the more impressive examples of life on Brunivard. We lament that the illustrations are not always as true to life as needed to allow thorough scholarship. This is due to the lack of detail in the original work, not any lack of care in our transcription. Future expeditions may allow supplemental illustrations that more truly represent the nature of the observed creatures.
