Mist-eyed Vek

No one in their right mind would live outside a City's walls, where the Mist rules and the Beast roam. Yet, of course, not everyone is in their right mind. There are those who, by choice or judgement, leave the Cities behind. Usually their lives are cut short but a rare few manage to cling on to life in the Mist.   One such person is known as Mist-eyed Vek, a wretch who skulks about in the Mist and steals from poorly guarded caravans or lost hunters. It is not known exactly where Vek is from or what brought them out into the Mist, and in fact the Cities in the region where they have been sighted tend to blame their neighbors for this miscreant. No one is eager to take responsibility for someone who has become such a danger to the general public and evaded capture so skillfully. Having been active for over a decade, it is the hope of the authorities that the problem of Mist-eyed Vek will soon solve itself—after all, living two years in the Mist is nigh-impossible. With over ten years unprotected from it, Vek ought not be long for this life.   Accounts differ on what Mist-eyed Vek looks like, some saying they are bulky and muscular and others claiming they are wiry, while their skin and hair color appears to change from one sighting to the next. The only thing all accounts have in common is the claim that Vek's eyes are entirely clouded over as a result of the extensive time spent in the Mist.   Reports of their method of operation also vary, with some claiming that they work with a group of other outlaws to attack caravans or assault hunters and steal from them while others say that Vek prefers to slink around like a coward, and pilfer things from carts when the guards aren't paying attention.
