Dalem Owi

The Dalem Owi , often referred to as the Mountainfolk, are an ethnic group native to the Lebras mountains. They are most known for their prized wool, their distinct perfumes and their relative cultural seclusion.   When the Mist came, the Dalem Owi were the only people in the region who did not migrate on masse into the massive, walled Cities that dot the continent. Instead, they remained in their mountain villages, simply moving some of them further up the mountain where the Mist did not reach. Although they appear to have had frequent and mostly positive contacts with neighboring peoples before the Mist, these cultural ties have lessened over time as contact has decreased due to the reluctance of other peoples to venture unnecessarily into the Mist.   The Dalem Owi still have sporadic trade contact with Cities in the southern parts of the continent and more rarely further up north, but due to the stigma against life outside a City's walls and the infrequency of contact, a lot of prejudice has arisen against them with some even believing that all Dalem Owi are Mist-touched. As such, they are often met with suspicion and hostility, leading the Dalem Owi to generally regard the other cultural groups in the region as inhospitable and unkind. In spite of this, the exclusive perfume they make and the fine wool their goats produce is highly sought after for it's high quality and rarity.   Generally wiry but muscular, the Dalem Owi usually have a pale brown but somewhat ruddy complexion, light brown eyes and dark blonde to dark brown hair. They frequently wear furs and woolen fabrics, decorated with carved wooden beads. It is common for all genders to keep their hair long and in thick braids, but sections of the population keep parts of their head shaven.
