Experience and Levels in Hummel Quest | World Anvil

Experience and Levels

Throughout the adventure, your tanks will grow more experienced and advance to higher levels. As they do, they will grow stronger, but their enemies will be stronger as well.   Generally, you will mainly gain experience points through combat, but your MM may also decide that other tasks warrant experience points.

LEVELLING UP

Note your gained experience points and your level on your character sheet. Here’s a table showing the suggested amount of experience points needed to reach the respective levels:

Experience Table

LevelEXP
10
2100
3600
41,200
52,500
64,800
75,700
86,900
98,200
1010,000
If you start at higher levels than 1, just take the experience point value that you would have earned by the time you have reached that level, and add an according number of points (see ASSIGNING POINTS).

ASSIGNING POINTS

Every time you level up, you gain 2 points that can be spent on improving your ability scores or increasing the rating of features you have. You don’t have to spend them right away, and can instead decide to “save up” to make a bigger investment later.   Spending 1 point increases an ability score by 1.   Keep in mind however: You can increase as many ability scores as you like every time you level up, but only by 1 point at a time. There is no maximum score for ability scores. You can’t increase or decrease the rating on defects.   After increasing ability scores, don’t forget to also adjust your attribute scores! The exception are DT and OST. These attributes are adjusted differently, as explained in the next section.

FIELD MANUAL

You just reached Level 3. When you reached Level 2, you got 2 points but chose not to spend them. Now, you get another 2 points. In theory, that could buy you 4 ability score increases, but only for 4 different abilities. You can’t spend 4 points on one ability. You could also just spend 1 point on increasing one ability and spend the rest on increasing the rating on a feature you have. If you have for example the Winch feature, you could spend the remaining 3 points on raising the rating for that feature by 1.

ROLLING DT AND OST

Whenever you increase the scores of your Mentality, Buffer, Size, or Durability abilities through levelling, your maximum DT and/or OST will also increase. Other than when you first determine them, you have to roll a certain number of dice and add the results to your old maximum scores.   You can also choose not to roll and instead use 5 as the result of each die, if your MM allows it.
Increasing your Durability and/or Size score allows you to roll for an increase in your maximum DT. Roll 1d10 for every point that the score of either ability was increased by. Your current DT remains unaffected.   Example: You increased your Dur score by 1 upon reaching level 4. You didn’t increase your Size score. You can roll 1d10 and add the result to your maximum DT.   Increasing your Mentality and/or Buffer score allows you to roll for an increase in your maximum OST. Roll 1d10 for every point that the score of either ability was increased by. Your current OST remains unaffected.   Example: You increased your Ment score and your Buf score by 1 upon reaching level 4. You can roll 2d10 and add the result to your maximum OST.
