Cleric
Cleric is a profression held in high esteem, because of the miracles they can perform. One can only claim to be a cleric by showing their magical abilities, bestowed upon them by the Gods.
Few and far between
Clerics are extremely rare. It seems like the Gods are very picky about who they choose to be their clerics. And not all clerics enter into the spotlight by performing miracles in public, instead serving their God in less visible ways. Clerics are believed to have a direct relation to the Gods, making them leaders among religious folk. They often fulfill the role of a preacher, teaching their followers about their specific God or Gods in general. Because there are so few of them, they also hold significant sway in political circles. Their services are invaluable, giving them quite a bargening power. Throughout history, clerics have also been prophets. They'd have the ear of kings, informing them about the will of the Gods or telling them how the Gods can be appeased.Life of a cleric
People have extremely high expectations of clerics, as they have the power to greatly improve the lives of the peasantry (which are generally the most religious). It is not unheard of for villages to come to blows with each other if a cleric stays too long inside a single village. After all, the blessings of a cleric in one place can really negatively impact the surrounding area. And that's just talking about the lower-class. The upper class can make things so much more complicated. They might not appreciate the miracles the cleric is doing for the poor, breaking the balance that keep the rich powerful. Or they might want the cleric's power all to themselves, putting significant pressure on the cleric, up to the point of severe blackmail against their faith or church. And then there is the Order of Perseverance, which is actively looking for Clerics of the Life domain for their ability to heal severely wounded soldiers at a low cost. It's where a cleric can do the most good in a short amount of time. But it's also a place of nightmares and not all clerics are up to the task. When a cleric deserts their post, they leave in disgrace, severely damaging their reputation.
