Glacial Sea
The Glacial Sea, surrounds the tundras past The Black Forest. It is one of the most dangerous seas in the world. In the distance, mountains of ice drift in the sea and even during calm weather the waves are large to capsize smaller boats with ease. In the past, it was known for whalers who fished for whales and brought their hauls of large fish back to the capital to wonder. However, they all disappeared without a trace.
During the summer Poro live near the shores of the Glacial Sea. Sometimes fishing from the shores and harvesting whale bones from the whale carcasses that have drifted ashore.
Exploration
There have been many attempts to explore the Glacial Sea, the biggest obstacle for exploration is winter, which crusts the entire sea in thick ice, in general the can be fared only between 7 to 9 months annually. Before accessing the sea through a land-route through Lake Kelpie the Glacial Sea remained mostly undiscovered. With the whalers, came also an era of discovery. Though many ships were lost, there were also traces of new land beyond north. A temporary fishing colony was built on this land in order to support further exploration and activities. The era of exploration in the Glacial Sea was short-lived. One year, the whalers never returned from the Glacial Sea, and the settlement near Lake Kelpie had been abandoned. While there were investigations carried out on the fate of the fishing colonies, nothing was never found. It had became a mystery that no one wanted to solve. Since then no one has settled near the Glacial Sea or approached the sea through waterways. The Glacial Sea has been called as the most beautiful sea by many due to the impossible large structures of ice that drift there. Still, only a few has ever managed to see it. Most sea captains wish to see it for at least once before dying. The Glacial Sea is generally considered as one of the ends of the world and most map makers draw an impossible wall of snow beyond it despite this has never been confirmed to be the case. With current technology, further exploration of the Glacial Sea has simply been considered impossible and fruitless.Species
The Glacial Sea is rich of variety of schools of fishes. It is most famous for its countless whales that spend the summers in the Glacial Sea to feed on the rich sealife until the sea freezes over. It is also one of the only places where Cold-Blooded Selkie have been spotted. To the current knowledge, no other merfolk species live in the Glacial Sea. Though it is possible that they simply have not been discovered yet. The cold-blooded selkies pose the greatest known threat to humans in the Glacial Sea. An unknown species of krakens also live in the Glacial Sea. They appear to have a form of relationship with Cold-Blooded Selkie, though the exact nature of this is not known.
