Father Desmond Character in How to Live in a Fantasy World | World Anvil

Father Desmond

Father Desmond is a bishop, currently in charge of The One Church affairs in the north. He is a close acquaintance to Charles Von Acedia.   In his youth, father Desmond has spent time studying the Poro tribes in north. He was also the sole survivor into the Church expedition to the Glacial Sea which eventually led him to the Poro tribes. While the church never took his story seriously, they stopped any further plans out to the north. The church labeled Cold-Blooded Selkie as a dangerous species to the humans and notified the adventurers guilds of the discovery of the new species to the north.

Description

Father Desmond hair and beard have turned mostly white, and his face is wrinkly and rough. Unlike most priests, he eyes reveal that he has seen some deeply troubling things. He still wears a bone necklace made by the Poro shamans. The church have approved his explanations that it is a symbol of a deity from the minor pantheons. Since then the use of the charms have become more popular, especially among the sailors who travel to Crowald to trade.   He is very warm-hearted priest who opens up to anyone. He doesn't talk much about his own past. At least not before meeting the Poro tribes after the failed expedition. Before becoming a bishop, he used to do a lot of research on the north, especially in Crowald and The Black Forest. His earnest hard work had earned him the position of Bishop in Crowald.
