Crowald Tramway System
Crowald Tramway System is very much the marvel of dwarven engineering, dug underground. It is an integral part in the infrastructure of Crowald enabling rapid transit of the citizens and supplies between the many districts of Crowald. Powered by a mix of magitech and steamworks.
The Crowald Tramway System is one of the core development projects of House of Acedia and in addition to Crowald, there is also a small tramway system being built in the capital. Unlike the one in Crowald the capital one built above ground due to technical issues.
Some scholars estimate that the tramway system would become the future of logistics and replace chariots with horses, while others argue that the freedom provided by a steed is irreplaceable. Regardless, there are multiple sprawling tunnels that go outwards from Crowald and are integrally connected to the defense of the city and county. This has permitted a more complicated agricultural utilization of Crowald, making it difficult for spies to scope the exact state of the county.
The vehicle operated in the Tramway system has two trains on opposite ends that pull several carts, capable of transporting up to 10-tons of cargo. The trains can pull up to eight carts in full load. The trains operate on tracks that are two dwarven minecarts wide or '2-carts'. This measure of width is roughly 1.5 meters. There are multiple signal lights and tracks used to operate the trains up to 80% of maximum capacity. Most of the Tramway system usage during the days focuses on commuters and transporting food, while during night most of the trains are packed with resources and materials typically used by the craftsmen and smiths.
Currently there are hundreds of kilometers of tunnels bored underneath Crowald for the tram system. Despite of its rather recent manufacturing date, the Crowald Tramway System is already being considered as a candidate for one of the marvels of the realm.
Accidents
While generally considered as the safest form of travel. The local residents have learned to avoid using the tramway during the Harvest Festivals of Crowald. A drunken dwarf driving the train, may accidentally forget to hit the switch on the tracks and take a detour; forget to a stop; or in an extremely rare case even collide with another tram. While collisions are extremely rare, they do happen every now and then. Track related accidents also happen from time to time, especially during the lax supervision during the Harvest Festivals of Crowald. It is not uncommon for a drunken passanger to fall (or jump) down on the tracks during this time. While there are security measures to prevent loss of life, injuries and delays are very common when falling down on the tracks. And there are also always unfortunate tragedies where loss of life could not be avoided. Annually 3 to 10 people die in the Crowald Tramway System. Demographically almost always humans. Meanwhile dwarves are more likely to get into accidents. Their shorter and sturdier builds tend to protect them from life-threatening injuries.

Oh my god magical trams! I love this, and I love hearing what the people in the setting think about it. Great work!
