    Fluff:

While the various counties of the realm and religions supported by The One Church create a word with myriad choices, it is uncommon that one class in particular stands out so much. In the eyes of nobility whether you are a knight or not, either makes or breaks your future.   While having the class of knight is not an 'absolute' requirement and there is no set-law for it, it is difficult for any other profession or class to rise up in positions of power. The class is so common in high positions that it is almost better to talk about exceptions. It is the single class that holds most respect out of all the other classes. Usually knight class is synonymous with positions of power within the realm. Priests hold positions of power within the church and scholars hold positions of power within the orders of magic.

    Qualifications

    Class Rarity: Rare

    Aspect: Light

  • Status and rank within an organization or family.
  • High weapon skill, with increased preferential for sword(s).
  • Qualifications in other weapon skills, horsemanship and stewardship also attribute towards becoming a knight.
  •   Benefits: The Knight class provides the aspect bonus on all skills related to the class, and it amplifies said skills in honorable combat. Additional further growth on those skills is slightly improved, with the effect being greatly improved with skills that are of lower rank than the highest ranked skill.   The [Warrior] class is also considered equivalent to knight in combat prowess, with the limitations that the person does not have the necessary social status in order to become a knight.

    Status in Society

Knights are privileged compared to commoners. While they are not necessarily nobility, simply having the class brings respect. It is also expected for all sons of noble families to obtain the class of knight, otherwise they risk being disowned or replaced by their siblings. As the class cannot simply be bestowed as a title, it is seen as a testament of 'effort' and favoritism by the gods.   Wandering knights have the right to seek shelter and food from The One Church, and knights are often able to freely pass through county borders during peacetime without paying customs. They are also exempt from paying taxes for as long as they serve in a role fitting to their class. It is very common that knights who retire are entitled to be offered land from the master that they have served. According to the laws of the realm, this land should be sufficiently large, to be able to feed at least four families. While this right is important for many knights, it hasn't been without any problem. And knights who die during the service, won't be able to exercise this privilege for land.   While most children dream of becoming a knight, only very few become one. While the knight class is very common among nobility, only a handful of commoners from each generation is able to climb to the ranks of the knights. One of the key factor of this is that the requirements of becoming one, are heavily preferential towards members of nobility. Most commoners can't practice horseback, while most nobles are taught how to ride before their teens. Those nobles who are taught stewardship in addition to all other things, are practically guaranteed to become knights.   The rare children who become knights before becoming adult, are always adopted to noble families. This practice is also very common with young adults, often giving them the status of a bastard child. The Crown also commonly grants hereditary titles to knights who accomplish heroic feats and achievements.
