Personal history

Many years ago there once was a tiny lighthouse that sat near the vastness of a large ocean. Inside the lighthouse lived a boy who kept the lighthouse shining for all to see. The lighthouse was a beacon for those lost and looking to be found or a warning to the ships headed back to shore to be on the lookout for the rocky cliff side. The boy was kind of heart and generous of wealth, he’d allow visitors to stay in the lighthouse which also served as his home and he’d feed the guests fish that he’d caught nearby, the only thing the boy would ask in return of his guests was that they pay his generosity forward so that the world could one day become a more friendlier and welcoming place. The boy continued to act in this manner all the while maintaining the light for the weary and the wicked alike. What the boy didn’t know, was that this generosity would be his undoing. One night he was greeted by the sounds of mewing from a nearby bush. The boy searched the shrub and within the beam of light from the lighthouse he found a small orange kitten. He took the kitten in, fed him, and setup a place for him to sleep. Soon the two grew inseparable, wherever the boy would go the small kitten was not far behind. When the boy would go to the old tree to fish, the kitten would go as well. When the boy lit the lighthouse each night, the kitten was at the boy's side. When the boy would shelter guests, the kitten slept on his lap keeping him company. This relationship flourished for many years where ever the boy went the kitten was sure to follow. While the two changed over the years the boy to man and kitten to cat their purity of heart remained the same and their bond grew stronger.   One night as the two entered the peak of the lighthouse the boy now a man began to light the fire just as he’s done many times before, however this time was different. The man looked down at the once was kitten turned cat. The cat had stopped in his tracks and began to shake violently. When the man approached the cat and patted its head it felt has if his hand had touched a burning stove. He pulled back his hand in an instant, all the while the cat remained in the spot, quaking in place like something inside him was fighting to get out. In a flash of light out came a stream of blazing fire from the cat’s mouth and barreled towards the man. The blaze struck the man and out the window he flew, the only thing left behind was a small flame pendant that had always adorned the man’s shirt. The pendant represented the flame of the lighthouse and his commitment to always keeping it lit for the lost souls at night when its light was needed most.   The cat was fearful for the man and ran to the balcony of the lighthouse to gaze down below and search for any signs that the man was okay. With the lighthouse still not lit he couldn’t see the man’s body in the darkness and the heavy rain or perhaps he was covered in the brush. That’s when the cat again started to feel more intense burning throughout his body. The cat looked back at its tail only to see it was a blaze. Frightened by these new changes and for the man’s well being he grabbed the pendant on the floor in his mouth and took off at full speed down the stairs. In the cat’s haste he tripped going down the stairway and in his tumble the lighthouse caught fire from his tail. The cat attempted to put out the fire but every time he’d come close his tail would spew forth another burning ember. His tail eventually returned to normal but not before the entire lighthouse had been wrapped in a burning inferno with the cat at its center.   At this point the cat was in a state of hysteria; he looked up at the blaze and felt completely helpless to stop it. Turning away from the home he had known all his life he headed towards the nearby brush in search for his master. He searched, and he searched, and he searched some more, eventually finding the man strewn out on his back with a large circular black scorch right where his heart would be. The cat ran to the man and dropped the pendant at his side, he began rubbing up against the man’s hand as he did many times before to no avail. The man remained motionless and still, unsure what to do the cat jumped up on the man’s lap and laid down, his vision deadlocked on the man’s face. The cat remained in this stance for hours in the cold rainy night before falling asleep.   The cat awoke in the morning to the birds chirping and the light of the sun warming his back and for a moment he thought it was all a bad dream, he looked up at that man expectantly, awaiting a firm pat on the head like every other morning only for the embrace never to come. That’s when the cat realized the nightmare was real and he looked up at the lighthouse only to see the remains of a burnt out structure and charred wood it would seem the rain did little to help prevent the inferno. The cat began to meow loudly in anguish as he viewed the face of the man who had been his savior, friend, master, and father. He meowed and meowed and meowed some more, but as he meowed the sound began to alter…a word began to form in the cat’s mouth. “Hikaru!” the new voice said. Surprised by the new sounds coming from himself, the cat jumped back. In that moment the burning sensation returned from the night prior. The cat closed his eyes in terror and wished his pain would end, he wished that his master was back and that he would make everything right. When the cat’s eyes opened he quickly realized he was a cat no longer what he saw in his stead was the form of his master. He looked down and saw his master was still on the ground and was confused by what had occurred. The next few moments were spend adjusting to his new body, it was very different from his own but it somehow came naturally to him.   Unsure what to do next the once was a cat looked down at the pendant and a realization began to form in his mind. All he could hear was the voice of the man and the ideals he held dear play in a loop over and over, the kindness he shared to all he met and the generosity he would pass on through the world. It was then that the cat knew how he’d make up for the accident he caused and how to honor the man who had been so kind to him. He removed the clothing from his master and buried him there next to what was left of the lighthouse. He adorned the clothing and pinned the pendant to his shirt. He would continue his master’s beliefs and spread them through the world by traveling its roads and speaking with its people. If the light was no longer there for the people to find in the darkness… the light would seek them out through the darkness.   On top of the grave the once was a cat placed a rock. On the rock was a burned image, the image was that of the cat’s paw. The once was a cat stood up wiped his tears and began walking down the pathway not knowing if he’d ever see his home again.

Religion

While Hikaru possesses the natural ability to call forth fire he also follows in the footsteps of his master who followed the Shinto faith, especially the word of Kojin, god of fire, hearth, and cooking. The ways of Kojin tell us that we should take any fiery rage that dwells within and use it for the betterment of the people.   Kojin - A mighty kami that possesses three heads or personalities that each represent a portion of their domain. If any were to split from the group the results could prove disastrous.  Attakaidesu - The first head or personality that helps to form Kojin represents that of stability, shelter, and home. Her appearance is usually that of an older woman who has long ago settled down. It is said that if you are lost it is Attakaidesu who will help guide you back to safety and security.  Ippai - The third head or personality that forms Kojin represents that of forgiveness, togetherness, and contentment. Her appearance is that of a woman in her prime ready to settle down and start a family. It is said that this aspect of Kojin brings people together in great moments of revelry, either through romance or camaraderie.  Kasai - The second head or personality that makes up Kojin and the representation of ambition, passion, and judgement. Her appearance is that of a much younger woman than those of the other aspects, one who is fresh faced and eager to accomplish many things. This aspect is the most chaotic of the three, if she grants you her favor expect a great conquest awaits you with little regard to safety or thought, your passion will be your driving force.   Together these three heads help keep the others in check thus creating Kojin. Without Attakaidesu safety and preparation would be overlooked, likewise if Ippai were removed strong bonds and lasting memories would fade, and lastly without the driving force of Kasai perhaps nothing would get done at all.

Education

• The only education he has is what he's learned from watching his master. He's completely illiterate but holds the values of peace and kindness very highly.

Mental Trauma

The incident with his master has left him extremely self conscious and nervous concerning his fire based abilities. This leads him to trying to avoid using them around innocent people at all costs even at the detriment of himself.

Intellectual Characteristics

At times his feline nature will show itself through his actions and desires. He will sometimes begin to purr slightly when in a good mood, crave fish and milk, or just flop about lazily which often gets in the way of his goals.
