Throx
Throx are a large flightless beetle-type Exo. They have a bulbous body, three double-segmented legs on each side, an ant-like head with small to medium pincers, and a generally gentle demeanor.
Female throx produce a milk-like fluid that Ranoi'Qua artisans know how to refine into an explosive compound. This fluid is used to dissolve inorganic matter in the wild to aid in building rock nests, but domesticated Throx have been bred over years to produce this substance in much more volume and potency.
Cypher System Stats
Motive: Self preservation, Defense
Environment:Anywhere that Flatlanders reside, or anywhere humans have brought them.
Health: 10
Damage Inflicted: 2
Armor: 2
Movement: Short, can climb on natural surfaces freely when unladen.
Modifications (Skills): Domesticated: Tasks related to Exo handling as level 1; When being ridden, grants an asset to Climb checks.
Combat: Throx will usually choose to scuttle away and hide unless they are cornered, or there are threatened females in the vicinity. When forced to fight, they will attack with bites and crushing charges. Many a Throx herder has had a foot crushed or suffered a dislocated shoulder when a spooked Throx gets antsy.
Interaction: When not threatened, Throx are generally docile and respond well to gentle human interaction. They will come where they are led to, and will haul sleds or carriages. Any damage to a Throx that gets past it's armor will generally send it into Fight or Flight mode. Once they have an opening, they will attempt to scuttle up large trees or cliff faces and into any crevice that could fit their large body.
GM Use: The PCs have a group of pack Throx that become startled during an ariel Exo attack. They have started to break loose of their bridles and will take all the gear with them if they run away!
Loot: Throx shards are a common, low quality metal substitute. A dead Throx can be field butchered to retrieve 1-4 usable shards. (A Level 2 material)
Intrusion: Your nice day in the village is interrupted when you hear a young boy's voice. "S-s-stampede! Watch out!" A herd of around 6 Throx, seemingly male, is running amok and damaging property. It's headed towards the PCs, and each will take a level 3 Exo Handling check to calm down.
