Hoi Kráth
Hoi Kráth, usually known to anglophone humans as "The Ronath homeworld", sits at the core of an interstellar empire. Its inhabitants are militaristic, praise individual accomplishment and seek everlasting personal fame; their stories abound with great heroes, adventurers and inventors. Meritocracy can quickly propel able individuals to great heights, yet cults of personality can let them stay there unchallenged long after their skills and strengths have faded and they've become a burden to the empire as a whole. The Ronath species are at a techological parity with humanity, and our main antagonist among the stars.
The world lives in a fiction-within-a-fiction, existing in a somewhat familiar 1960s-70s TV space opera within an alternate history of our Earth, albeit a series written from an alt-Commonwealth perspective rather than an American one, and being slightly harder sci-fi and slightly less sexist than its erstwhile US inspiration.
