Personal history

Melanite was born under unusual circumstances. Both her mother and father are aasimars, however; she was born a Ganzi. A Ganzi is when an aasimar or tiefling are infused with celestial or chaotic energy, or for Melanite's case, a tiefling and an aasimar conceive a child. Mel's mother had an affair with a tiefling man while her father was away. When she was born, she looked like every other aasimar baby, however; as she grew, her teeth came in sharp, almost needle like, patches of her skin grew scales, and she did not pertain a celestial glow like her parents or older sister. Her father always had known and treated her as the black sheep of the family. When her younger sister was born a few years later, peace returned to the Sarle house. This however, did not stop Mel's father from abusing her emotionally and mentally. He would attack her weaknesses as her siblings and mother stood by, unsure how to stop him. When he was through with his attacks, her sisters, Aurora and Hope, would comfort her. Mel was not allowed to attend public schools like her sisters. Her mother and father would home school her, her father teaching the practicals while continuing his verbal abuse. Her mother taught her magic and herbology as she seemed to excel more than her sisters. Mel grew up with a lot of self doub and anxiety, she was depressed on most days. She would turn to her sisters for comfort, together, Mel would find sanctuary from her father's taunting words. All of this would change for the worse when Mel argued with her father, causing him to physically hit her. This was the turning point for Mel. She would move out of her parents home and move in with her older sister by age sixteen. She would pursue an education in magical arts, learning from schools of sorcery, illusion, transmutation, conjuration, and a darker type of school, witchcraft. When she was not studying, she would work in her older uncle's bookstore, tending to the bookshelves mostly. Here, is where she makes the decision she would regret for the rest of her life. While working in the shop, Mel had met a half elf around her age. The two were quite close and had similar interests. Mel fell in love with this half elf, she lusted over her. The chaotic energy in her heart took over her mind. When Mel had spotted the half elf with another woman, she was outraged and jealous. She would retreat to her room and pull out every book she owned on witchcraft. If she couldn't have the half elf, then no one could. Mel's intention was to blind the half elf to everyone but her, to have her only have eyes for Mel. As she performed the hex, the celestial power in her heart, caused her to have second thoughts. Alas canceling a spell was not as simple as starting one, we Mel tried to stop the ritual, the magical energy she had created redirected itself and hit Mel. It took a few hours before Mel had regained consciousness. When she opened her eyes, everything was black and dark. She would lay on the floor of her room for a few days, unsure if she was dead or in a coma until her sister had finally found her. This was when reality had set in for Mel. She was blind now, this was her punishment for trying to hurt another. Her older sister, Aurora, called in her youngest sister to aid Mel through this learning experience. When her mother and father were told the news a few months after the incident, their relationship changed dramatically. The biggest change was from her father. He felt pity for Mel, believing if she never left home, if her had taught her more, then she wouldn't have brought so much dishonor to the family. This outraged Mel, she did not want pity from her father, this false sense of care, false sense of love. She would push her parents away, only relying on her sisters for help until the day she leaves their apartment. She traveled the land for a few years. Learning herbalism from traveling merchants and sages. With her sight gone she was able to find new ways to create potions with her other heightened senses.

Sexuality

Before she became blind, Mel was more interested in woman than men, but that did not mean she was not interested in men. She considered herself to be bisexual, but with a preference of women more than men. Now without the knowledge of a person's appearance, she looks to personality. Mel does prefer a sweeter more feminine personality than the rough and masculine personality. However, now that she is blind, she is very much a pillow princess, meaning she prefers to be on the receiving end. She's scared that due to her disability that she could never pleasure her partner as much as they need.

Failures & Embarrassments

Mel considered her accident at 17 to be the biggest mistake of her life. Allowing herself to be blinded by lust and chaotic impulsive energy was the perfect punishment to actually make her blind. However, becoming blind allowed her eyes to be open for the first time in a metaphorical since as she now has a new way of "seeing" things.
