Hjolt

Centuries ago on Zolus, the town of Ravencross was established by a tribe of humans. Over the course of the Chaos Wars, the inhabitants of Ravencross constructed a massive network of underground fortifications and storehouses.

After the defeat of the Princes of Chaos, peace was declared across the world of Zolus and Ravencross prospered. The Dungeon was left forgotten and abandoned for decades until sinister cults began to occupy its lower levels. They practiced dark and unstable magics in the secret solitude of The Dungeon. Eventually, these dark rituals brought evil creatures into the dungeon and they quickly began rising out of the depths to threaten the citizens of Ravencross. Now a growing cosmopolitan city, Ravencross was forced to take drastic measures in order to protect its people, developing a desperate plan to deal with the evils below.

With limited knowledge of the dark magics they were dealing with, the plan to save the city dissolved into disaster. In the ensuing calamity, the city (and a sizable area around it) was displaced into a fractured plane of existence. The dungeons below still remain however, and the unstable magics that caused the city's planar shift have warped the dungeon into an endless labyrinth.

The citizenry have since rebuilt and formed a society that both exalts and exploits the riches below them. Reforged by experience, the citizens renamed the city to Hjolt. To this day, Hjolt remains as the only city in its worlds existence. Beneath it, the dungeon beckons with the potential of plunder and prestige for any who would dare explore its depths.
