An introduction to Hislariya
This public iteration of Hislaryia that you are about to explore was born as the setting for a series of romantic-erotic short stories. These stories revolve around the relationship dynamic between the Sensory Stupor Therapists, a group of 4 individuals who assembled around the figure of Yarik, an ex buccaneer with a passion for the science, who is convinced to have stumbled on an unconventional cure for an underesearched disease.
The nucleus for the setting is Hottest Spices, the apothecary shop that serves as a base of the Therapists activities, and as their main residence.
The population of Hislariya is scattered in a moltitude of islands big and small and for this reason navigation is central in the culture and aesthetic of the setting. The majority of the sapient population is human, but a restricted group of people said to have draconic ancestry, the Makarids, differ for a few peculiar caracteristics.
The ancient dragon species slowly started to disappear from the world a few centuries ago, and the last sighting of one of them dates back to 70 years before the events of the stories.
The setting has a certain degree of magic, mainly linked to the use of nezil, a material that confers some supernatural properties to objects. Only a limited cases of these properties are predictable and controllable by humans. Most complex artefact that use nezil magic have a random behaviour in the expression of their powers.
Dragons are the only creatures known to be able to perform magic without the focus of a nezil artefact and are said to employ a esoteric language that allows them full control of even the most complex nezil artefact.
Makarids have a portion of the same ability to control nezil, and some of them have a partial knowledge of the Draconic chants.
