Chillwastes

Some 200 miles north of Frosrport there is a vast, flat, deadly plain of ice and blowing frost. This inhospitable place is known by the peoples of the north as the Chillwastes. Those who live or work in the North Ice or the Frost Shard are aware of this even more dangerous place, and most avoid it at all costs.

Geography

nearly 200 miles north of the nearest active settlement, and at least 150 miles north of the timber line, this is vast a frozen expanse.
With limited resources, almost no plant life, and constant violent windstorms blowing at all hours, this place is best avoided.

Mostly flat, with occasional small hills or jutting spikes of broken ice, this land is barren and devoid of stable landmarks.

Localized Phenomena

Weather is a regular concern in the far north.
Windstorms are constant here blowing frozen mist, cutting shards of ice and dust, and on a rare occasion even snowfall.
On rare nights, the storms may let up enough to see the skies, on there unusual occasions travelers can see the auroras arching across the night sky; a show of shifting, dancing bands of colored lights.

Fauna & Flora

The only Flora to grow above the ice here is Frostmoss. The name is a bit of a misnomer, as it is more of a lichen than a moss, but regardless this short, spongy plant grown on ice shelfs and rocks that are tilted slightly away from the biting wind.

Animal life here is also very sparse, though not completely absent. White Bison march across the wastes in small, ever moving herds. They graze solely on the frostmoss, and are always on the move. The herds make a constant circuit, moving east to west, circulating the world about once a year.

Feeding upon the White Bison there are Yeti, Ice Trolls and Remorhaz all stalking the distant cold.
