Rhinance

Mythology & Lore

Seeking to live their lives by the stated virtues of a former Druid who took himself and his followers away from the Isle to escape the evils of the Tuatha Gods, each virtue is a direct challenge and criticism of the Tuatha gods.

Tenets of Faith

The Virtues of Rhinant Brighid || Diligence. The antithesis to Brighid is diligence, as her representation of excessive comfort leads to complacency and inaction.   Cailleach || Compassion. In direct contrast to the uncaring winters and storms of Cailleach, Rhinant teaches to be compassionate and mindful.   Lugh || Charity. The crafter god neglects those who cannot or are unable to craft for themselves. Rhinant teaches us to be charitable to those less fortunate than ourselves.   Manaann || Honesty. The sea is mysterious and deceptive, exactly what mortals should strive against. Instead we should be honest, and transparent.   Silvanus || Forgiveness. It is apparent to all that nature itself and it's wild places and creatures are unforgiving, and even wrathful. We should not seek to be as nature is, and instead be forgiving and merciful.   Daghdha || Temperance. While we should be grateful for the bounty of the harvest, and look for signs of a failed harvest, The Daghdha encourages only the harvest itself, being a clear sign of gluttony.   Mathonwy || Confidence. Mathonwy cares not for the scholar, only for their endless scholarly pursuits in which only harm can come. We should instead have confidence in who we are and what we have, rather than waste ourselves with such things.   Arawn || Justice. Death is indiscriminate and unfair, and Arawn is Death. He is inherently unjust to we mortals. We should strive to be unlike him, and be just in our dealing of death, when such is necessary.   Morrigan || Restraint. Morrigan has shown herself to being no better than a child in her actions, recklessly punishing and taking life. Never should we ascribe to be like Morrigan the Wrathful.
