Welcome to The League of Heroes! We exist to certify, train, and manage all would-be superheroes such as yourself. As you know, the world has been remarkably changed by advanced technology in our cities, space alien citizens roaming the streets, the looming threat of rampaging monsters ever present, and the legions of costumed heroes keeping them in check. Heroes such as these first appeared in the 1930s (if not even earlier) and began to make a profound impact on the world. Their power and influence has grown exponentially in more recent years since the arrival of the mighty alien hero Elysian and the space-borne threat that she helped to neutralize. For reasons that are not entirely clear, in the two decades since there have been exponentially more superpowered heroes stepping into the public and, keeping pace with them, far more and greater threats to Earth and its inhabitants' safety.
That is where we, the League of Heroes, come in. We need people like you. People with great gifts. Whether you can crush steel, control flames, turn invisible, or are just remarkably clever; we want you to report to your local League office and take a certification exam to be a hero. Elysian and the other Guardians are powerful indeed, but they can't handle every sea monster, mad scientist, and robot army themselves. Nor can the brave men and women of the Global Defense Forces and Aegis, their super-powered branch of service. The heroes of the League are the one who are trusted and celebrated around the world to respond first and best to all the world's most strange and dangerous threats.
And don't go thinking that you can just get yourself a mask and tights and do it yourself! You may think that a bulletproof frogman with eye lasers can just go ahead and skip the paperwork and get to the good business of saving people, but the rules exist for a reason! The League certifies heroes for their own protection and, frankly, to protect society from well-intentioned super-powered morons. It is our job to make sure that would-be heroes have the proper training to not harm people in the course of saving them. You wouldn't want to accidentally incinerate the out of control passenger train you were trying to stop, killing everyone on board, because you didn't understand the first thing about the train's magnetic rail system, would you?
You'll find that there are many perks to certification with the League as well. Not only will the League protect your secret identity, but we will also provide you with a generous stipend determined by your classification level, allowing you to devote yourself full-time to the business of being a hero. Depending on your abilities and performance, you will have the opportunity to move up in level, gaining access to greater privileges and amenities as your heroic career advances! If you are injured in the fight against villainy you will have access to our state-of-the-art medical and mechanical facilities. Should you fall, we provide life insurance and funeral services for any Earthling or alien tradition. You'll find the friendly and competitive camaraderie that exists with your fellow heroes well worth the examinations you endured to be certified in the first place and the resources the League can put at your disposal invaluable in combating the forces of evil.
So don't delay! The League, Earth, and all of its innocent citizens need you and your heroic talents to offer battle to the tireless forces of terror and villainy.
