Venn Drifter

A Venn Drifter is a type of technomagical transportation on the world of Pandom, it is less a singular sort of vehicle and more a broad archetype of flying vehicle that moves with the aid of magic, light gasses and wind. There are very few standard designs for Venn Drifters, most of them having been cobbled together from scraps of old machinery made before or during the Long Fall of Pandom. The most important aspects are the Buoy Tanks, large tanks that are made of leather, hide or even metal that are filled with elementally charged air that helps give the drifter lift. There is always some manner of hull and living area, the orientation of this is often slung underneath the tanks but can also be found in dozens of other orientations depending on how imaginative the engineer designing the drifter was. They also tend to have propellers and sails to help their movement and steering.    Drifters are not usually very fast or agile vehicles, they are created to travel far or to hover for long periods of time not to get anywhere in a particular hurry. That said, they can maintain a steady speed for a long time and make travel above the canyons and between them much more feasible than they were before they existed. They can make for powerful weapons platforms as well if properly armed and armored. Their fastest mobility is vertically as a skilled operator can change the charge level of the elemental air in the tanks to rapidly ascend or descend.    The first Venn Drifters were cobbled together at the enormous pile of scrap turned city that is the Venn Pile. They were originally used as a way to navigate the scrapyard as its twisted piles shifted daily and there was no real way to map it. The Drifters turned into floating bases of operation from which the Venn Pile was eventually form. To say that the drifters are an integral part of Piler mythology and self identity is almost an understatement. Even now that Drifters are used across the world, they are still most commonly known as Venn Drifters rather than a more local name.   A Venn Drifter uses an Arcane Engine as its primary power source, a piece of old technology that has either been refitted from an old one or has been cobbled together by an engineer from the bits and pieces of other engines. They often use wind power to supplement, especially if the engine is not in the best of shape. Its power source is often supplemented by a Screamer Engine to help obscure its energy from some of the creatures that hunt based on that signature.
