Buckford Whitstone

Archmage of Mera Nobith Buckford Tamarind Whitstone, Sr. (a.k.a. Bucky)

Physical Description

Specialized Equipment

As with every Archmage of the Aristocracy, specialized apparel has been developed for each of the members of the council.   Buckford is never seen without his iconic silver-threaded, black silk, starry night sky mantle. Long enough to touch the ground, billowing in the wind. With a raised, starched, angular collar.   Other than this his attire consists of a pair of Wiltshire Specials, black velvet dress shoes. Pinstriped high, pressed trousers with twelve inch black and grey striped suspenders over a billowing white silken dress shirt.   His specialized spellcasting focus is a traditionally straight, eight-and-a-half inches, tapered, deep purple feywood wand.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Buckford was born and raised in the Suffrick District of Mera Nobith, where the Whitstone Estate stands to this day.

6254-6260 AE (age 7-13)

Being well off in terms of socioeconomic circumstances quickly lead him in to delve in to the study of arcane arts at the age of seven, attending the Dorman School for Gifted Children. While studious, it seemed he lacked the raw arcane potential to wield magic at any elevated level. That is until the day he - according to his own accounts - made a deal with a celestial spirit, housing it in his own body. From that day on he was celebrated as a prodigy of the arcane. He attended the university of his home town, the University of Forbidden knowledge, as the youngest attendee in history at the age of fourteen.

6261-6293 AE (age 14-46)

Being one of the foremost scholars of his time, he quickly found an affinity for war magic and studied the Great Magical Wars extensively, finding a special kinship while studying the journals of Sindella Ankh'Al, written during and after the Siege of Mera Cleia. Occasionally teaching the subject to new war mage recruits, despite remaining strictly theoretical in his own practice of the arts.   Also greatly assisting in the study of the ancient texts at the Tower of the Tristitia Novon, primarily credited as the one who translated the lion's share of the Tales of Remembrance.

6294-6344 AE (age 47-97)

He would reach the age of 47 before his knowledge was actually needed on the field. Being a father of three, he reluctantly shouldered the responsibilities of his office.
As it turned out, his studies had not been in vein as he showed immense aptitude for strategy and combat. Despite how devastating as his magic could be, he probably prevented millions of deaths in the long run. The fickle nature of the Fields of Remembrance however, made the war seem unending, with both sides suffering massive losses.
It was during this time that he befriended the now legendary wizards Asseria Dreamfield, Brocknar Le Maix, Mariella Mangold and Samber Forthbell. Former classmates of an upcoming Harrishan wizard named Numethar Goodspeed, who himself was a pacifist at that point. What this troupe would accomplish can scarcely be written down here in full. But powerful as they were, they seemed evenly matched with their opponents consisting of only An'Real Farindan and Aman'Val.   During this war he would father five children with three different wives.

6345-6374 (age 98-127)

His post-war time was spent mainly studying the works of the Tristitia Novon, trying to make sense of the Fields of Remembrance and to find a way to contain their magic. With time he found a way to temporarily make them habitable, requiring more means than any one regent was willing to spend in order to reclaim what was now mostly a wasteland. It would entail the construction of four towers, the very same we now know to be placed around Tabernaclas. He would go on to father two more children during this time, with yet another wife. It would seem he couldn't or wouldn't share the secret of a magically prolonged life with any partner.   During this time, he also became very good friends with Numethar Goodspeed, swiftly coming to admire the man for his revolutionary thinking. He was one of the first nobles to support the Manifesto.

6375-present

Nowadays he mostly sees to the development of his region and his duties as Archmage and has been caught on record proclaiming his wish to pass the mantle on, if he ever finds someone worthy of the office.
