Wyrthus
A Wyrthus is a shop typically selling herbs, tinctures and teas for common ailments and general consumption. Not to be confused with an Alchemist, a Wyrtwright only works with herbs, grown domestically or foraged, and doesn't work with materials like metals, wood, bone etc. Some but not all Wyrtwrights may also sell poisons, but those who do generally don't sell them to people they do not know for fear of causing harm to another human. The poisons though harmful to humans are generally sold for the purpose of pest control.
Where to find a Wyrthus
While most smaller settlements don't have a dedicated store for the sale of herbs and tinctures, they still do have practitioners, often whom work from their own home selling herbs dried or fresh and other various items. This practice evolved into the more urban dedicated frontrooms for the sale and display of products which can be found in larger settlements. Although very uncommon there are a few Wyrthus' in Helnia which have no residents within them, and are solely used for commerical purposes.Importance for communities

A frontroom would be filled with bottles and jars of various dried herbs, different coloured teas and tinctures. Vials filled with various scents and oils. On the walls of the room there would be herbs set up to dry, hanging uniformly and patiently for their moisture to leave them. When you enter a Wyrthus you are hit with dozens of pleasant smells, the herbs left to dry releasing their scent into the world. Such smells like sage, mint, meadowsweet and more can be experienced. Generally the more fouler smelling plants and herbs are left to dry in another room so that the customer doesn't have to experience their stench.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
