Unity Day
History
Far preceding both Empire Day and Independence Day, Unity Day is the oldest of Helstav's holidays. It is a celebration of Helstav's ancient history, and represents the battle of good against evil as the War of the Elder Races has come to be seen.
Execution
It is very much a religious holiday, During the day, the temples around Helstav hold masses, and there is a public reading of the Second Constitution of Helstav There are also theatre plays being set up about the War of the Elder Races between Elves and Dwarves, and about the way the two races could eventually find common ground and start working together in the face of great evil. The theatre plays go to show that the followers of the Seldarine and the Morndinsammen found a way to co-exist peacefully, each with their own beliefs not intruding on the other, and thus ending the War of the Elder Races. The great evil is portrayed to the masses as the endless war that threatened the lands. There are several theatre plays, but there is one considered the most official one, which is the one the city's aristocracy attends. It is considered to be a great honour to be cast in it, as one can usually garner enough fame from that event alone to be able to apply and get almost every other role in other theatre plays.
In the evening, as has become tradition since the time of Brian Blessed 1st, the President of the Helstav Council gives a speech about the importance of setting aside differences.
