The Amazons

The Amazons are an exclusive tribe of female warriors that live within the jungle Island of Dásos. They mostly keep themselves from meddling in affairs, such as wars etc unless the war may threaten their way of life or Grecian civilisation. They can be called upon in times of war by the current ruler(s) of Grecia, although they have been reluctant to help the Council in recent times. Their leader, The Undying Queen, is the stuff of legend. A warrior princess said to be blessed from the power of Ares, the likes of which are not known in modern times. The other members of the tribe spend their days going about their routine on the island, this could be hunting for pelt & furs or combat training with other warriors. Men are not allowed to live within the Amazons culture or tribe, their code forbids it. But in order to maintain their numbers, every year members of the tribe are allowed to leave the forest and seek consort from men within the nearby city of Henmaest. After this they retreat back onto Dásos, keeping all female offspring, all of the males are either killed, sent back to their fathers or left in the forests to die from the elements.
The island of Dásos is a special & sacred place to the Amazons, because of this it can only be seen by those who have been allowed passage by The Amazons. This is done by being either a member of the tribe or by possessing a boon, gifted by high ranking warriors. Without either of these, the island will never be found and the lake will look and appear to be empty.
Most Amazons can be identified by their lightweight appearance, carrying only the essentials they need to fight at most times. Light armour, small adorning furs, the higher ranks within the Amazons may also wear some metallic pieces of armour, or jewellery signifying their increased stature.

Structure

Atop the Amazons leadership is the Queen, her say is final and nobody ever questions her out of respect for the power that she holds. Under the Queen as 5 of her Generals, or as they call them, The Arians. Each of the Arians command a small force of approximately 45 warriors, bringing the total number of current Amazons to approximately 231. The exact numbers varies depending on the year, and how many of the Amazons have fallen in battle. But it always stays around 200-250 warriors in the tribe.

They keep to themselves, unless anything threatens their way of life or if Grecia itself faces immediate and pressing danger.

Assets

• Each member is equipped with a special type of weapon called a Hiratos. A dagger, capable of morphing into a dual-bladed polearm.

• Light Armour sets custom made for each warrior, comprising of fine furs and abundant/lightweight metals

• A fleet of 10 transport ships

History

The exact start of the Amazons is unclear and shrouded in speculation and myth, it is said that the first recording of their existence was sometime in the late -900BR when a reclusive tribe of warrior woman emerged from the trees seemingly wrapped in a civil war. Fighting each other, with no clear winner in sight, eventually one of the leaders managed to slay the other. Bringing about peace to their tribes, and joining them together in what would be known as The Amazons. Since that day The Amazons are rarely seen, outside of their forests except for a few occasions. There were once rumours of them harassing Shieldite forces in one of the Skjoldvegg Wars, but exact time and dates are unclear.
