Octant 6: The Study
The sixth Octant is known as the Study, for the obvious reason that this is where the education institutions of Helstav lie. Here, people send their children to learn and develop in the areas they wish to work in some day. With Starstrike Training Academy of Racial and Societal Tolerance to Reduce Ideological Kerfuffles Emerging being one of the oldest and most prestigious of the schools, many would either begin their studies here before branching off to other avenues of education, or they would remain and complete the education at STARSTRIKE.
Demographics
35% Elves, 20% Humans, 15% Dwarves, 10% Half-Elves, 5% Gnomes, 5% other. The few Vedalken that have made their way from Austerith can be found here conducting research.
Government
As a general rule, the Study Octant keeps to itself and doesn't have problems on the political scale, being far more concerned with problems of the arcane instead. Still, there needs to be a governing body, and the Conclave of Research is it. They're in reality a small council of 15 people, with one representative from STARSTRIKE and each of the magic academies as well as the Lore College included in that, that resolve any political matters behind the scenes that may pop up. The people are chosen for lifetime, but are given the choice of stepping down, eg. if they need more time for their own research, and can be removed if a majority of the Conclave votes yes in a vote of no confidence. To this day, this has only done once: in 2820 BR, when the Enchanter Rirvos attempted to use his influence to take leadership of Évëa.
Ruler
As in most things Helstav, once again STARSTRIKE has its fingers in the Study Octant. As the one with the most affluence, Aneirin Elladyr is the de facto leader of the Study Octant.Industry & Trade
EDUCATION
The main industry in the Study Octant is education. Those that live in the Octant are either studying or working at the various schools and academies. The subjects taught within the schools and academies span over a wide variety of skills and talents.MAGIC ACADEMIES
Originally, there had only been one school of magic, but as the number of both students and faculty grew, they split off into three distinct brances. Currently, there’s three major magic schools, which are divided into three primary schools: Évëa (dealing with Divination, Illusion, Enchantment), Foqal (dealing with Abjuration, Conjuration), and Fhaor (dealing with Evocation, Necromancy, Transmutation). ÉVËA Évëa [Divination, Illusion, and Enchantment] is being lead by a middle-aged male Eladrin named Relmil Themenor. FOQAL Foqal [Abjuration and Conjuration] is being lead by a young male Elf named Vicelor Lorovar. FHAOR Fhaor [Evocation, Necromancy, and Transmutation] is being lead by an older male Gnome named Galin Yosser.Infrastructure
The Study Octant is filled to the brim with libraries, workshops, schools, scriptoriums, training halls, book clubs, and Bard Colleges. There are also alchemists' workshops, fortune tellers, wizards' towers, and many more.
Guilds and Factions
People tend to be grouped into what school they're attending or teaching at, or what research they are conducting. Despite the many facets of the research being conducted in the Octant, people are seldom involved in physical fights, often preferring an intellectual discussion to a scuffle.

The Study Octant as it is is fairly recent, being one of the last ones to be built to its completion as more people migrated and gathered in Helstav, although STARSTRIKE has been around since right after the founding of Helstav, teaching Dwarves and Elves to co-exist peacefully. Since then, the purpose of the Study Octant has shifted from teaching people about their differences and similarities to teaching people all sorts of subjects.
Architecture
The building style is influenced heavily by Elven architecture, due to the fact that STARSTRIKE is Elven in origin, but it in general depends heavily on what the purpose of the building is. The architecture isn't typically the eyecatching part of the Study Octant, so much as the multiple floating objects or glowing runes around every corner.
