Nerwen

Cheerful, confident, and charismatic—those would be good ways to describe Nerwen. Born to human parents, she had been left for the dead by her birth family. Saved only by the grace of a friendly couple of an Elven lady and her Dwarven husband, Nerwen had been brought up with the outlook to "do no harm but take no flak".   Even as a child, odd things tended to happen around Nerwen. Bottles exploding, papers fluttering off, clothes disappearing; her parents were at a loss what was causing it. They did their best to give her a well-rounded education: Her adoptive father had taught her how to wield a wide assortment of weapons, of the firm opinion that everyone ought to be able to defend themselves. In contrast, her adoptive mother had imparted upon her the value of all sentient life, the importance of trying to solve things without resorting to violence, and the belief that all sentient life was fundamentally good and worthy of living.   Though she was never lacking for anything, Nerwen always felt that her life was lacking a purpose, a reason for being there. As she came of age, Nerwen decided to leave the safety of her parents' home, and explore the world, sharpening her combat skills, and hopefully finding something to fill that hole inside her.   After several years' worth of travels, Nerwen came into the company of an entourage of Paladins. They fascinated her, and she struck up a conversation with them. The more she talked to them, the more she realized that she had found her purpose in life. The very next day, she swore a Paladin's oath. This was what she was meant for: being there for people, and helping them find redemption, for no one was beyond help.
