Maraloi Tribe

A powerful tribe of Elven warriors. They were trained for battle from birth and were called to protect the Elven ways. The Maraloi Tribe was formed by the 9 Lord Elves that were created by the great deity Corellon Larethian. He personally made each of them individually, designing them personally with great care and attention, before creating the rest of the Elven race with the help of the Seldarine. Because of how they were made, the Lord Elves had the blessings of Corellon and were bestowed with abilities other elves didn't have. As the Lord Elves had children with regular elves, more Lord Elves were created, and the Maraloi tribe was formed, consisting of the strongest Lord Elves. Each of the 9 Lord Elf families would put forward a representative to form the Council, who would lead not only the tribe, but the Elven race as a whole. Even to this day, many Elves believe that their descendants are still around, protecting the Elves.

Summary

The Maraloi Tribe were all descended from the 9 Original Lord Elves. Each Lord Elf had their own blessing from Corellon, with their families representing a different aspect. Each family would have a place on the Maraloi Council, and they would as a whole decide the direction for the Elven race.   1st Family: The Daywood Family. Represent sovereignty, leadership and connection with Corellon. Understanding that the Elves would need to be properly led to grow, Corellon established a strong connection with the Daywood lineage, connecting with them and blessing them with wisdom and knowledge from above. Azavar Daywood was the first to be created and witnessed the birth of the Elven race. With his inherent connection to Corellon, he lead the Elven race, before passing the mission on to his descendants.   2nd Family: The Faerinaal Family. Represents both division and unity, understanding oneself as an individual as well as being one with a group. The importance of both growth in your own skills, but also the skills to work together as a team. Sharitae Faerinaal was the glue of the original 9 Lord Elves, the one that brought unity. She understood the importance of working together, that the Elven race would only be strong by moving as one. She bestowed these values in the hearts of her children.   3rd Family: The Handion Family. Represents truth and knowledge. Quizzical in nature, they represent the search for knowledge based on facts. They are inquisitive and question what is in front of them, continually looking for verity and certainty. Thodeth Handion was an intelligent and curious man. He would constantly raise doubts on things, investigating further to discover the truth. His descendants inherited his questioning ways, continually searching for the meaning to what was laid out before them.   4th Family: The Aldaron Family. Represents nature, and the balance that one must have with the environment and the world. Preserving the beauty in the world. The greatest offense an elf can make is to tarnish the beauty of the world, while the greatest honor is to add to it. Trallae Aldaron was in awe of the beautiful world that the gods had built, and did all she could to preserve the beauty of nature. She developed magic that utilized nature, allowing one to draw from the beauty and add to it, growing in harmony with the world.   5th Family: The Xatlio Family. Represents grace, empathy and forgiveness. Without the ability to empathize and understand one another, we are merely savages. Yahariana Xatlio was a woman of emotional intelligence, understanding one's thoughts and feelings was a priority to her as she knew that by learning the way others think and feel can, in turn, improve the way that you see and respond to things in life, making you a better person. These traits are common to see in her offspring.   6th Family: The Calen Family. Represents the imperfections in the world and what we as people should understand about ourselves, there is always room to change and grow, become better over time. Caartich Calen believed that Elves shouldn't believe themselves better than others and that pride would create a downfall if not kept in check. As flawed individuals, we must not fool ourselves into believing that we have no weaknesses. Only by having weaknesses can we grow and become better, and this is what he taught his descendants, that you must first deal with one's own weaknesses before you deal with another’s.   7th Family: The Crithasar Family. Represents perfection, the standard that all elves should strive to be like, understand one's strengths, one's place in society and how one should hold oneself. Beinion Crithasar was the picture of what an elf should be. Graceful, proud, wise, strong and charming. He was the most handsome of the 9 Original Lord Elves, and bed many elves and produced many beautiful children, in the hopes of spreading his beauty and perfection. His descendants are.....a little arrogant and pretentious.   8th Family: The Elladyr Family. Represents new beginnings, experimentation and exploration. Searching for new ways of doing things to better your life and the lives around you, while also contributing to nature and the culture of the elves. Herion Elladyr strived to find more to the world, seeking out what more there was to the world, what more the Elven race could add to the world without taking away from it, and this is a trait that he would teach his children. His descendants tend to have a curious nature, not willing to take answers for what they are, but searching for a better answer.   9th Family: The Turoc Family. Represents judgement, discipline and punishment. Understanding that when one strays from the right path, there will be consequences and repercussions. Every action has an impact and a result that must be dealt with accordingly. Eirrah Turoc was a strong and powerful elf that believed in a firm hand when dealing out justice within the Elven community. When a wrong is done, he believed the proper punishment must be served. Discipline was the legacy he passed down to his descendants.

Historical Basis

Based in historcial truth, and although there are many descendants of the Maraloi Tribe and the Lord Elves, the purity of the bloodlines has thinned over time and the wondrous abilities and blessing bestowed upon the Lord Elves has dissipated, with only a portion of their blessings remaining in some Elves.

Spread

Almost all Elven communities know the stories of the Lord Elves, or depending on where they come from, have stories of a certain family as they would have governed over their land or region. Although the stories have become exaggerated over time, with some people seeing it as a mere fairy tale instead of history.

Variations & Mutation

The exaggerations of the Lord Elves abilities has varied from region to region. Some talking of tales where a single Lord Elf was able to take on a full grown dragon single handedly etc. Tales over time have become merely bedtime stories to most people in the world.

Cultural Reception

The place that still holds the story of the Maraloi Tribes as an important part of their culture is within the Mestihe Jungle, as they have actual descendants living there, and many of their traditions and organizations were made in ancient times by members of the Maraloi Tribe.
