Lone Palace

Amidst the chaotic northern part of Usilia, with orc raiders to the west and bandit parties to the east sits a lone temple at the top of a mountain with planes of forests between two rivers. It is the most peaceful northern land, though not due to prayer, but due to the efforts and martial prowess of the warrior monks of the Hongan, the Temple of Primal Vows.   It is one of the most beautiful parts of Usilia, with tall mountains surrounded by a serene fog, the beautiful cherry blossom trees which surround the nearby settlements and the rivers from beyond which you can see the wide planes of Northwestern Usilia.   Though not officially recognized as a Usilian city, but more of spiritual location of prayer and healing that the more spiritual Usilians attempt to visit at least once during their lives, the Lone Palace has over the years grown as people flock to the land surrounding it to escape the extortionate taxation of some Lords, or the dangerous lands to the east. Over the years this led to area becoming self-sufficient and developed enough for some to question or compare it to some of the cities.

Government

The Lone Palace is operated by the Elder Monk who oversees the Temple's functions and hands out orders to the Hongan monks, but the settlements near the Lone Palace itself have no actual leader. Though most would claim that they follow the Elder Monk's will, the Elder has no wish of doing so and lets people attend to their own affairs provided they are not desecrating the sanctitude of the land.

Defences

The Lone Temple's monks are highly trained warriors, specializing in weapons, hand-to-hand combat and even the manipulation of elements simply through bending their own will into energy. Though they do not consider themselves a military force, they are ruthless against any ill-intended person or being that enters their land.

Infrastructure

The settlement at the base of the Lone Palace is made up of various farmers and craftsmen who organized themselves and divided simple functions to become self-sufficient.   A water mill helps break down grain, weavers make the traditional robes that the Hongan monks wear and simple clothes for themselves. Fishermen and hunters gather food to survive, which they are allowed to do, provided they never exceed their needs and various artists paint the mesmerizing mountains, hills and peaceful landscapes.
