Allelengye Khytirio Sideros

Once a place where workers toiled in hellish heat, the Allelengue Ironworks is now a paradise for the working man and woman in its new role as headquarters of the Indivisible workers of Anadephuros. The AEA, as well as the building itself, have become a symbol of change and potential revolution, and many pamphlets have been dispersed using the likeness of the foundry as a symbol for the syndicalist movement in the city.

Purpose / Function

Originally intended as an iron foundry, the building is filled with large smelters, crucibles, and storage space for vast amounts of iron ore and coal. The building also has a small rail connection to the main city line as well as a dock connection for intaking raw goods from trains and barges. Nowadays, the building acts as a meeting place for trade unionists, and the headquarters for the largest syndicalist organization within the city, the Indivisible Workers of Anadephuros. The building also acts as a safehouse for syndicalist-alligned individuals, especially those who have had run-ins with government or nationalist agents. While the smelters and machinery still dominate the floor space of the building, space has been made for seating arrangements and other amenities.

Defenses

While the building is not intended to be a defensible position, the AEA still has means of protecting themselves. The walls are sturdy while heavy metal doors mark the entrances. The easiest way to break in would be the windows on the eastern side of the building, though they are always guarded by at least a half dozen riflemen at all hours of the day. The railyard has a brick fence surrounding it, and heavy wooden gates block the tracks.

History

Originally known as the Amphigyeis Ironworks when it was owned by the Phosphoros Steel Company, the building was built in 1773 as the company was trying to move further east out of its base in Nikopolis. Around the turn of the century in 1798, the company went bankrupt and the building was foreclosed, going into possession of the Bank of Anadephura, laying abandoned since then. In 1817, following the Stalemate of Sideron Bridge, the AEA was founded, and needing a place to lie low, took over the foundry.
