Background

Vinn (legally Vinn Verne) was born as the middle child to a middle-class family who lived in an unnotable suburb. He had an elder brother and a younger sister.
From the moment he gained any semblance of cognitive maturity, Vinn started to be much more stoic, as to him, the only thing that is guaranteed in life was suffering. Before this change, Vinn was a vibrant young boy, who was equally susceptible to feeling ecstatic levels of joy and overwhelming outbursts of rage. But after this revelation made itself to Vinn, he no longer had that gut-wrenching feeling when he saw his mother get beat by his father, insults and reprimands no longer meant anything to him, and atrocities were simply the way of the world.
This emotional reclusion of his birthed a longing to feel. Yet the thought of fully accepting what it was like to feel pain without the filter of stoicism was terrifying to Vinn. As a result, he lived vicariously through his sister: He would do everything for the sake of her happiness.
Vinn's sister viewed the world simply. As a result, her perspective on everything was a pure one: it was devoid of efforts to shield oneself emotionally. Vinn knew this and tried to shield her from things that would make her sad, uncomfortable, or even angry.
One doesn't need to be told that completely protecting someone from emotional turmoil is impossible, Vinn included. But he tried, anyway. Until the time came that he decided he witnessed his sister cry for the last time.
On the 27th of November, 2033, Vinn's neighbors reported an ungodly smell coming out of the Verne residence. Upon entering the home of the Vernons, the authorities were quickly able to identify the body of his mother, Claire Verne, his father, Victor Verne, his older brother, Vincent Verne, and his younger sister, Cecil Verne. It was noted that while Claire's body was mostly fine except for a precisely placed cut to the jugular vein, Victor and Vincent's bodies lacked vocal cords, and had several wounds and burns, likely resultant of flaying and chemical burning. Cecil Verne's body would be found 2 days later; her autopsy revealed that she was killed via lethal injection.
On December 1st of the same year, a chain of serial killings done in a fashion similar to the cases of Victor Verne and Vincent Verne begun. The targets were either rich capitalists or the dregs of society. These killings continued until December 29, 2034, when the body of the killer's final victim, Vinn Verne, was found. Every murder would be pristine: acid burns where thumbprints on the victim would be, bloody footprints leading to impossible escape routes, and no footage is ever recorded of the killings.
