The Stonekeeper Tribe

Common knowledge

The largest tribe of the Goliaths that call the throat of the world home are the Stonekeepers. Stonekeepers wander a bleak realm of rock, wind, and cold. Their bodies look as if they are carved from mountain stone and give them great physical power. Their spirits take after the wandering wind, making them nomads who wander from peak to peak. Their hearts are infused with the cold regard of their frigid realm, leaving each Goliath with the responsibility to earn a place in the tribe or die trying.

The Stonekeepers are not a tribe of just one family but of many goliath families that band together during the harsh winter months. They live in semi-permanent dwellings, moving from their isolated mountain peak homes to the fertile valleys below during the winter months. Wintering together with other families, trading knowledge and resources before traveling back up the mountain when the great thaw happens in spring. They are an immensely proud and honorable people who seek the continuation of the tribe above all else. The individual has no place in the dealings of the clan, even the family is but a piece of the greater clan.

The Name Stonekeeper

The Stonekeepers take their name from their unique method of recording history. The histories of this great people are carved into stone and chosen by the families that make up the vast clan. Each family carves their chosen scrap of history onto a shard of a great, interlocking, stone tapestry. Each piece fits with the pieces beside it and any piece that will one day follow. The effect creates an intricate and ever-expanding mural of interconnected history. When the clans come together every 60 years to continue the grand work it is truly a sight to behold and one of the few times anyone can piece together the entire history of the tribe.

Wisdom of Generations

It is their stone tablets that depict their history that gives them the wisdom to strive towards greatness. Other tribes lack the wisdom of long life because of their peoples natural inclination towards risk-taking. The Stonekeepers are one of the only goliath tribes that do not suffer from a chronic lack of the experience offered by long-term leaders. They hope for innate wisdom in their leadership, for they can rarely count on a wisdom grown with age.
