Black Engine

Researched and Written by Elias Dods

When I first laid eyes upon that immortal machine I felt my blood run cold. Even ancient and ruined, evil still ebbed from deep within the monstrosity. I had never sensed such a presense. A veritable avatar of anguish and ruin even after the millennia of disuse.

Machines of Conquest

Black Engines not only saw use as the most efficient and rapid transport in the Uderkith empire but also made weapons of war. A Black Engine in a mountain pass or on a wide plain can chew through even the most well equipped armies.

Powered by Death

The Uderkith's most insidious devices were powered by the slaughter they brought, feeding on the corpses of the dead and their pain and suffering. In these dark days, they are but breeding grounds for tortured spirits, still making their circuits in the Uderkith's underground realm.

Power Generation

The Black Engine is powered by a perverse machine of flesh and steel that sits at it's core. This contraption feeds upon death and blood

A Black Engine is pulled forward by a mass of blades, hooks, and spikes that bite and claw at the ground to rocket it forward. These spikes cover the spherical outer wall in a mass of steel and death.

Weapons & Armament

The very existence of the Black Engine was to make war and in fact it's means of propulsion also serve it as a potent weapon. Legions of men have fallen to the Black Engines as they barrel through the Black Roads and breakneck speeds.

Armor and defense

The outer shell of an Engine is a thick sheet of steel and regenerative semi-organic matter. The shell can prove to be immsenely resilient, even capable of resealing breaches given enough time and fuel to it's dark core.
