The Barrenlands (bare-in-land)

The Barrenlands consists of a massive desert that lies on a continent North of Asylum City's continent, connected through a land bridge that surfaces every ten years with the shift of the planet's climate. It was once referred to as the 'Wilds', back when the planet had only a singular landmass with a few islands to the North and South. Previously it surrounded Asylum City before Spirit Possessors and Flexors worked together to break the continent apart. Within this area, there are multiple places of interest. The Dragoona Monk Temple, a place of worship and living quarters of the Dragoona Monks, is located in the cold Northern Islands of the Barrenlands, at times called Hop Islands. In the center of the expanse rests a mountain range, at the center of which is an active volcano and is a spot of interest for the Hydro Heads. Several camps belonging to the exiled of the exiles, known as Slayers, can be found near water sources. Lastly there is the city of Salem, which resides on the Southern coast of the Barenlands and holds the exiles from Asylum City.

Geography

The Barrenlands consists mainly of a desert that stretches from East to West of the main landmass. To the North are a small set of cold islands. To the South, the Barrenlands ends in a quartet of islands that reach into the center of the Narrow Sea that mostly separates the desert from the lower continent. In the center of the mass is a large active volcano. A relatively short mountain range branches from the volcano, running from to the North and down to the South of the continent. The base of these mountains are pockmarked with a mixture of natural and sapient-made caves, some of which contain underground rivers and large ponds. Oasis pockmark the landscape, quality rotating with the movement of the herds that live here.
