the Brokers
As they see it, the only way to achieve guaranteed success is to weaken or eliminate the competition. As such, they seek out and destroy all technical information, technology, artifacts, and any other information they could potentially sell in limited parcels. They feel that if they could destroy all useful information and gatekeep access to this information for a fee, they could ultimately monopolize all useful technology and information. Other perks of this plan include the ability to alter historical documents, or eliminate dissenting info. Reviled by all enlightened free-thinking scientists and scholars, they find themselves at odds with nearly all settlements, although they find many customers amongst the less-scrupulous, the desperate and the unaware.
Life for those within this group is ruled by constant oversight and surveilance, and every action is prescribed and scheduled in advance. They live by a meticulously designed system of social control that attends to a person's individual needs modestly while maximizing productivity and output.
Culture
They participate in a consumer-based culture supported by a network of micro-fabricators. Most of their single-use wares produced in this manner result in monotone, papery things that seem hollow inside and are quickly discarded.
Public Agenda
They claim to benefit their customers by providing planning, consultation, and technical information regarding tools, building constructions, medicine, manufacturing and science. However, it seems they carefully design every product so replacements are neccesary often and continuous purchases are neccesary.
Demography and Population
The largest population group working within the organization are young adults to middle-aged, mostly of asian origin. Many low-educated individuals comprise the organization, living in ignorance of the sin they live in. Not many are born within the organization, and many new recruits must be gathered to maintain their numbers. This is acheived through recruitment drives, or kidnapping and brainwashing 'strays' (unafilliated outlanders).
Foreign Relations
Almost all governments and societies are enemies of this group, although a very few participate in their information destroying, pay-per-word lifestyle.
