The Tale of One and Many Prose in Haustusmora | World Anvil
The Ata began with the creation of the first spirit, Yhjun Erak, and of Ikh-Mir (the Weave). Yhjun existed in the states of both "I" and "We," positing on its creation, weaving itself throughout Ikh-Mir, eventually coming to conflict within itself. For eons, Yhjun battled itself in it's multitudinous forms of I and We, reflecting the chaos of its origin in the Far Void, its unknowing mother which has spawned countless other worlds and gods neither feeling nor wanting of her creation.   Within its first rest, Yhjun's rage and fury separated from the whole, creating the spirit Ronia, the embodiment of the Elemental Chaos and the goddess of strength and storms. Rested thus, Yhjun, warred in and of itself for a second time.   Within its second rest, as the Elemental Chaos pressed itself to the edge of the material realms, Yhjun's manifestations separated from "I" and "We" to form the spirits of Nex and Asmodeus, gods of creation and of luck and change, respectively. These two would be in constant strife, unable to approach the material center of their wants beyond Ronia and her Elemental Chaos.   Expended from its internal conflict, Yhjun's aspects of both "I" and "We" contemplated their battles and the creations they spawned. In its contemplation of the aspects of duality within and "I" and "We," aspects of creation and destruction, Yhjun looked upon the mote of creation bubbling amongst itself in the visages of Ronia, Nex, and Asmodeus. In its pride and humility, Yhjun grasped its essence, the entirety of Ikh-Mir, and focused on the chaotic elements swallowing the material center.   Ronia's fury was quelled through her forced, albeit temporary, separation from Ikh-Mir. Utilizing the vessels of Nex and Asmodeus, Yhjun contemplated its creations further, and bent its will within Ikh-Mir. Through will and manipulation of all energies within its cosmic realm, Yhjun formed the dark world of Haustusmora over the passage of eons. As "I" stood apart and took all of its work into itself, "We" scattered towards the world, passing through the elemental chaos. The spirits of "We" stepped onto the dark mass of the world, perishing from their interaction with Ronia's separation from Ikh-Mir, their bodies forming the lands, skies, and oceans of the yet-lifeless world.   Through Yhjun's kindness to its three departed creations, another aspect of "We" was ejected to form the spirit of Azohr, the goddess of Justice and Nobility, and with her creation amongst the dark world, Yhjun reunited Ronia with Ikh-Mir. From there, Yhjun reposed and warded his cosmic collective from outside influences, Ronia encapsulating the material center within her fury and protective rings of chaos, and the three younger, Nex, Asmodeus, and Azohr, wandered the dark world to revel in its oddity and alien nature to their essences.   Though still being of the whole of Yhjun, their partitioned selves felt a weaker connection to Ikh-Mir as Ronia served as a barrier between them and the outer cosmic planes. Within the darkness, without the mind and force-of-will of both "I" and "We," these young "gods" reflected on the static nature of the dark world. Where once they could command the void and elements to become naught or else with guaranteed success, they now faced rebuttal, rejection, and silence from their now-still brethren, the worst of it all. The Three called out to Yhjun for assistance, but Yhjun merely rested and created the outer planes of thought with its dreaming and ruminations of self.   Ronia, though the embodiment of fury and rage, heard the cries of her brethren, of her younger selves, and felt pity, for they knew not the touch of the cosmic duality as she did. She bequeathed to them a fragment of her internal fury, The Paramount Conflagration of the Material, cautioning them to not forsake it, lest she bridge her fury and chaotic rings upon the world. For fear and respect of her, The Three did as she commanded. They held the first flame and cherished it as they saw for the first time since the repose of Yhjuk the multitudinous peaks and the vast expanses of sky of the dark world.   For every moment through Yhjun's repose that The Paramount Conflagration shone through to light a piece of Ikh-Mir by Ronia's grace, a star formed. As each new light in the far darkness was born, The Three grew ecstatic, relishing the feeling of creation once more, and Ronia smiled to herself knowing that her gift was cherished greatly. Through their travels, The Three came upon a vast expanse of sea, and stared into its darkness, unable to comprehend why the darkness beneath fought the light of The First Flame.   A voice unfamiliar to them echoed through the darkness below, calling them to submerge the flame beneath the dark surface, so as to bring forth the light into the depths. With no inclination or knowledge to distrust the voice, Nex hurriedly thrust the flame beneath the water, nearly completely extinguishing it. Fearful of the result, The Three retreated away from the water, attempting to revive the now-dying embers of Ronia's gift.   Not wanting to face the wrath of Ronia, The Three contemplated on their origins of "I" and "We," until they were able to each take a part of themselves and encase The First Flame. They took the renewed flame, a living spirit with the name Duthro and led it far away from the water, to the highest peaks of the dark world.   Duthro contemplated its form of "I" and "We," and came to the conclusion that it would light the world, so that it's creators may at last see from all corners. With that, Duthro ascended beyond the sky to become the sun and cast light to all corners of the lands within its sight. The Three once again saw the far-away ocean and decided to enact their wrath upon the voice that attempted to trick them.   The Three came upon a pallid-green worm-like creature, writhing and screaming at the edge of the shore bathed in the light of Duthro, with the same voice that echoed through the dark depths. As punishment for its treachery, The Three plucked each of its three eyes so that the eyes may forever bask in the light that burned it so and that they would ensure the seas would recede enough for the light to always reach the creature from time to time. Drained from the creation of Duthro, The Three rested before taking a part of themselves and placing them into each eye, becoming the three spirits known as Rin. The three facets of Rin tethered a part of their connection to Ikh-Mir at the edge of the water, pulling it as they ascended into the sky as the three moons of the world, pulling the oceans up to water the world, and pulling themselves closer back to the depths, so that their former master may never be allowed to hide in the deep depths for too long.   Exhausted and expended from granting themselves unto these new spirits, Nex reposed amongst their creation of Duthro and remained their for a time wanting to be near to the spirits of Rin at all times, and Asmodeus reposed betwixt their creation of Rin, tethering himself to all three so that they would never stray too far from the other. Azohr wandered the new bright world, and aimed to discover what else she could help to foster.   The triplet spirits of Rin in the sky could not bear to look at the visage of Duthro for all time, so they tricked him into having a race with them knowing that Nex was not awake to teach him better, but on the condition that they have a head-start, for they were smaller and younger than Duthro. Ignorant of the trickster's nature that Rin was born of, Duthro agreed. The three moons raced to the other side of the world where darkness still existed, away from Duthro's sight, and separated for a time. One spirit raced towards Ronia's Elemental Chaos, eager to collect water to extinguish the light, but the spirit was found by both Ronia and Asmodeus, and was engulfed within Ronia's rage and fury. Asmodeus, having returned from the Elemental Chaos and afforded some of his sister's fury, raced towards the now-twin-spirits of Rin and engulfed them in a pale light to last forevermore. Their pain would last for eternity, but as long as they kept to their destined tasks, they need not bear the pain of seeing Duthro's light for all time. Thus the twin moons of Haustusmora do roam the skies at night, commanding the ebb and flow of the world's oceans.   Azohr wandered the world, going over the mountains, into the skies, and for the first time, down into the depths of the ocean, as far as the light reached. She roamed and wandered, and over time, a feeling of emptiness and solitude came over her. Unable to will the world to her bidding, she contemplated upon her origins of "I" and "We" and turned her will inward. She gave herself form after the fierce lightning reminiscent of her sister Ronia, of the blazing heat of her brother Duthro, of the ever-shifting pull of Rin, the peaks reaching the heavens, the seas descending beyond sight, even the vile creature which she help cast to the depths. Thus, from her will to create and her will to explore, Azohr became the first material being born of Yhjun: a dragon of immense proportions that the very mountains, bodies of former "gods," quaked under her shifting weight.   Azohr began to mold the earth around her, etching forms into the mountains and oceans that resembled herself and forms that she hoped would please her siblings.
