Imperial Conference of Delectables

The Imperial Conference of Delectables is the largest cultural food-sampling event in the known world, which takes place in various establishments across Penchester for the duration of a week.
In preparation for the conference select chefs from around the Tightish Empire, including overseas territory, are transported to Penchester together with all the ingredients that are needed to prepare local specialities.

History

The origins of this event can be found during the reign of King Edward, who enjoyed traveling to the most distant edges of the Empire to experience the diverse cultures and cuisines that thrived under its wings.
There came a time where the Empire grew too far for this to be practical, and so it was organised that, on the first of Fructus of every year, representatives of the cultures would have the opportunity of visiting the capital, as well as to share their culture with the Tightish public.
The conferences have been a full success, although the Crown no longer attends the event after the initial opening.

Participants

During the reign of King Edward all establishments were visited by him personally and the event was organised by an elite committee.
The expertise of the committee was nessecary to plan all the logistics of the endeavor, including the transport and storage of the representatives and ingredients, the reservation and preparation of the establishments and various contingency plans.
Since Queen Victoria this process has been single-handedly planned by the Crown, allowing for increased efficiency in planning.
In addition the Crown no longer visits each individual establishment due to the difficulty of transporting the exceedingly heavy and bulky Puppet Queen into the establishments.
A further motivation to visit is lost due to the fact that the Iron Rulers cannot consume human food, defeating the primary purpose of the visit.
Instead a representitive is delegated to fulfull the task and report their findings back to the Crown.
