Igavatas Species in Hanzelot | World Anvil

Igavatas

One Purpose

Igavatas are the only sapient species in the known universe. They are the result of the multiple factors needed to create intelligent life with the ability to develop rational thoughts, language and culture. They were not always alone. Other intelligent species inhabited millions of distant planets. All of them self-destroyed before they could master the technology necessary to travel to the stars and encounter others.

This is why Igavatas are unique. Their peaceful culture, love for the law, and safe ways of living and using the resources made them the first and only species to travel impossible distances for other species. Igavatas harness stars' energy to create wormholes to whatever place and time they need.

It was not easy for them to develop this technology. It took thousands of years to get where they are now. They made a few mistakes and lost many lives to use first their star and then others close to their planet as a way to travel through space and time.

The reason behind their experimentation with the stars' energy was their wish to meet other intelligent species. Share their culture and their knowledge with others and make new friends.

When you hurt another, you destroy yourself.
— One of many rules

Their culture and way of living follow the principles of solidarity, community, friendship and above all, a deep sense of doing what is best for their species. Conflict and wars were rare in their story until they disappeared altogether. The way Igavatas managed to avoid conflict was their realization that war was inconvenient for the survival of the species as a whole, a waste of resources and a nasty way of dying. They couldn't do that anymore.

Instead of using their intelligence to make lethal weapons, they decided to create better and efficient ways to develop society. This meant many rules were put in place to protect, not only their lives but also other species living on the planet. The downside of this decision was the rules made most of them a bit boring, too obedient. Those who were not so compliant with the new rules were subdued by other more severe means.

A big mistake

What have we done?
— A conflicted scientist.
When Igavatas finally had the power to create wormholes they travelled to planets with chances to develop life as they knew it. Sadly, every planet told the same story: sapient species were extinct long ago.

After this discovery, Igavatas were deeply affected by their loneliness in the vast universe. They felt guilty they'd managed to survive where others couldn't. From that guilt was born an idea: bring the lost intelligent species back. Rebuild their worlds. Igavatas didn't want to interfere with time, space and the fabric of reality. For that reason, they decided the best curse of action was to pick one species and recreate it.

Cloning was a common practice for food and other commercial activities. Why not do it with sapient beings? Igavatas got an answer to that question very soon.

Maybe if they had chosen another intelligent species the history would've been different, but Igavatas brought humans back to life on their home planet. The disasters humans perpetrated in the brief time they were alive were enough to shut down the entire project. As a result, Igavatas embraced, even more, their precious order.

Many safe travels

Farewell. May you always remember and live by the rules.
— Official goodbye.

After that, Igavatas focused on discovering and studying planets suited to their needs. They sent to those planets groups of families to start new lives only when they were sure the new home was safe for everyone.

Igavatas don't travel to other planets for fun or adventure but to ensure the survival of their species. One of the rules they are more attached to is using technology responsibly and in balance with nature.

Igavatas don't live for very long although they had great success in medical advances and many diseases were eradicated, they couldn't find a cure for old age. The average life span is about 400 and 600 years. It gives them plenty of time to study how to protect their species and discover new planets to inhabit.

Because they learned the hard way not to interfere with time travelling once a new group settles in the new planet, communication and travels to that planet are forbidden. After all, they made sure the group had everything they needed to grow and thrive in their new home. This doesn't mean they don't have the technology to move around in time with the wormholes.

What would happen if an Igavata in their long childhood would get bored with all the rules, protecting the harmony in the universe and the status quo? What would happen if they use all their inherited intelligence and the technology at their disposal to attract others, like-minded kids? What would happen if they prefered Chaos's game?

Scientist Igavata

-What I'm going to do with all this time?
-Here have a book.
-You mean The Book.
-Start reading nowe if you want to use your time well.

Senses and abilities

Igavatas can see the whole spectrum of light, but their hearing is not as good. They are tall, strong, and fast runners. The downside is they get tired very easily. To replenish their energy, they consume a lot of food ( 5 kg per meal) sleep many hours (10-12 hours per day).

Reproduction

Little Igavatas are born after their progenitor (between 2 to 4) share their DNA and choose who will be the carrier for the year and half of gestation.

Growth Rate & Stages

Childhood expands for around 100 years. Youth and adulthood for 250, After that they are consider old. if they surpase the 550 years of live they are called ancient.
