The Main Harbor

The Main Harbor, located on the Yellow Island, is a hub of the maritime and trading industries in Mo'olelo. The Main Harbor is part of the Capital City, which is also the biggest city in Mo'olelo. Many people live and work at or near the Main Harbor, working the ships, coordinating trade, serving the sailors etc. The Main Harbor is a major port of entry in and out of Mo'olelo. Residents, from the harbor, can travel to the other islands of Mo'olelo as well as to other majors cities like Waterdeep and Neverwinter via ship or outrigger canoe.

Guilds and Factions

There are several major guilds who work and/or have influence in the Main Harbor. The three main guilds are the Maritime Society, the Canoe Club and the Traders Guild. The Maritime Society manages the large ships i.e. who comes and goes, where they dock, why they're in Mo'olelo, what they sailors are doing, are the ships up to code etc. When ships dock, they pay the Maritime Society.
The Traders Guild manages the flow of goods coming through the harbor. They do work closely with the Maritime Society, but the guild isn't necessarily concerned about the ships. Primarily, they keep track of the items coming through the harbor to make sure nothing is counterfeit and all goods are accounted for. The guild is also responsible for ensuring black market goods aren't on ships or are being smuggled on and off ships, particularly looking for human trafficking, drugs or fudged inventories to avoid tariffs and taxes.
The Canoe Club manages interisland travel and is primarily run by the locals, also known as Oleloans. Although Oleloans do live and work with the Traders Guild, the Maritime Society and other businesses associated with the harbor, the Canoe Club is also interested in maintaining the outrigger canoe as a mainstream form of transportation. The outrigger canoe is part of the ancient and native culture of Mo'olelo, and the Canoe Club wants to preserve the use and practice of the outrigger canoe. Besides interisland travel, the Canoe Club also hosts outrigger canoe races and tournaments.
