Battle of the Hidden Isle
One of the largest naval battles at the outbreak of the war, this battle served to show the forces of both sides what would need to be changed if navys were to remain effective throughout the war. This battle also was the first time the strange forces of the Hidden Isle have taken to the field, their objective unknown. However they managed to deliver a terrible blow to both fleets, gaining the attention of the world powers.
This would lead to an international investigation into the battle and the alias of the unknown force.
The Conflict
Prelude
WIth the outbreak of the war both the Anglican and the Kronenburg fleet took to the oceans, aiming to raid supplies and gain naval supremacy. Victory for either side would allow for a naval blockade to be put in place and serve as the perfect propaganda for the populations back home.
Battlefield
The battle took place just off the coast of as of then unknown isle, the sea was deep enough for both sides to deploy submarines and limited airships over the battlefield. The submarine forces included a transport being sent to the new world, inside of which the party traveled.
Conditions
The seas were rough driven up by a storm that seemed to form as the battle grew closer to the islands. This limited movement and vision for the majority of the battle, and even lead to several ships sinking.
The Engagement
The battle lasted for over seven hours with neither side able to score considerable damage, this was due to the newest innovation of ship armor preventing shells from both sides from piercing until the ships grew closer to one and other. It was found out about half way through the battle that ramming was the most effective form of sinking ships.
As both ships moved closer to one and other the battle escalated and casualties climbed, it seemed both fleets were destined to destroy one and other. However a strange twist of fate lead hostile titans to come from the isle, at least seven are recorded to have taken part in the battle, the nationality of these titans is as of yet unknown.
As both fleets turned to escape the titans, the Captain of the HMS Thunderchild took it upon himself to hold the rear of the fleet. Moving to ram one of the titans, it is reported that he damaged one of the titans enough to stop it from following. His ship however was captured for the action, resulting in the first battle cruiser to fall during the war.
