The Bloodwood
Wildehart is a land littered with untamed woodland, but it's most lush and fertile ground came to be this way only after a cascade in the world's magic left an entire society stranded in a strange new world. The Maelstrom contained within the planet surged against it's bonds, ripping through the planar veil resulting in the "Fey Displacement", wherein the world was introduced to the Elvish and Gnomish peoples, bringing with them their innate connection to nature, and their propensity for Blood Magic.
The Elvish Capital (Tonacali, the Home of the Sun) is home to sacrifices of blood and gold, to honour the Fey gods, and in turn the Elves and Gnomes who have remained in the place of their landing centuries ago are gifted with plentiful harvests in the fields that line the inner borders of the Bloodwood. This magic extends to the surrounding woods, where the bark of the trees is stained a deep red, and golden flowers dot the forest grounds wherever the sun manages to break through the canopy.
Even the Bloodwood's shimmering waters carry a pinkish hue, and if the tales that the Elves and Gnomes tell are to be believed, a single cup filled from one of it's streams can keep a man from thirsting for three whole days.
Where Wildehart is renowned across all of Gyrraholm for it's unparalleled natural growth, the Bloodwood seems to surpass even that. But unfamiliar travelers beware for it is not only vegetation local to Gyrraholm that grows here, and your doom (or a tear into the Feywild itself) could be just around the next blood stained tree.
Geography
As a forest with some connection to the Fey, the Bloodwood is no stranger to "uncommon" hues in it's vegetation. Most notable are the red tones found in the bark of it's trees, and the abundance of golden flowers in clearings where sunlight manages to break through the canopy, but where the connection to the Feywild is most strong, you're likely to find deep, vibrant blues and purples as well.
Fauna & Flora
Fauna of the Bloodwood ae much like any you'd find in Wildehart's other forestland, such as deer, rabbits, wolves, bears and foxes (as well as typical woodland avian beasts), though it's link to the Feywild means that it's far from rare to see something a bit more bizarre roaming it's depths. From pixies and blink dogs, to more nefarious creatures such as Redcaps and Hags, the Bloodwood's Fey ties make it just as dangerous as it's name would imply (even if it's initial visuals seem inviting).
The Bloodwood's flora is of a similar nature. Mostly of a kind that can be found across Wildehart, but with golden flowers that sprout wherever light reaches the soil, and blood red bark for which the forest is named. There are, of course, some Fey elements to the flora as well, and plant-like guardians of the forest (such as Dryads and Treants) are rumoured to protect it's most sacred corners.
Natural Resources
The Bloodwood is a fantastic hunting ground (for those who know their way around it), with plentiful game inhabiting it. The timber from it's eponymous red-stained trees is generally of high quality as well, incredibly durable (but also time consuming to harvest). Tales tell of caves found in the Bloodwood's depths that contain a metal that few beyond the Gnomes (and some elves) know how to smelt and forge efficiently. This Obsidian is often used to create heavy armour, weapons and even gadgets, as it's quality (if worked correctly) can be quite high.
