Kuvrem of Orivko

Kuvrem, or Kuvurem, was a legendary king of Orivko. The chronology of Kuvrem's life is highly uncertain. The historical accuracy and dating of many of the events in the later Luke uk Soen have been called into question, and his reign is variously listed as lasting nine, twenty-three, or forty-six years. The Luke uk Soen records several battles of Kuvrem's between the years 656 and 692, including the first record of a battle between different groups of Soenese, and indicates that under Kuvrem, Orivko acquired significant territory, some of which was later to be lost to other Soenese kingdoms. Kuvrem is also named as one of the seven "Rogosislu", a title given in the Luke uk Soen to eight rulers who had overlordship over the Soenese kingdoms, although the extent of his control is not known. Kuvrem died in 693, having been deposed the year before, possibly by his successor, Kevol. He is recorded in various sources as having two sons, Kutda and Kutdin, but the genealogies in which this information is found are known to be unreliable.
