Morningmaster Arthagast Ulbrinter
Arthagast Ulbrinter was the head of the noble House Ulbrinter in Waterdeep as well as the Morningmaster of the Church of Lathander for over a decade and a Masked Lord for the last four years of his life. He was well respected and quite liked. His assassination by dragon cultists was seen as a horrible tragedy for the city and worked to mobilize the populace against the cult.
He was married to the Harper Remallia Haventree, who continues their joint mission to support Harper activities in the area.

Personal history
Arthagast was born as the third son of the Ulbrinter family and became a soldier as was expected of all Ulbrinters. He was quickly accepted into the Lords' Alliance and earned a leadership position within this organization. His two older brothers died in the fighting. When the battle was over, he returned home, despondent about the loss of his siblings. In time, he felt that Lathander, the god of the dawn and new hope, spoke to him and encouraged him to take up the fight again against the powers of evil. Arthagast decided to become a priest of the Church of Lathander.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Arthagast was an excellent priest. He was strong against things he thought were evil but diplomatic enough to win the undecided to his viewpoint. He grew in prominence in the church, eventually becoming the Morningmaster of the Spires of the Morning, the church in Waterdeep, at the young age of 45. All true followers of Lathander applauded his appointment.
With this title, Arthagast had a platform for reform within the political circles of the city, and he used that to provide wise council in difficult discussions and promote programs that provided aid to those in need. Yes, he made enemies. Anyone in power would, but he was too clever and too well-liked to ever give them a chance to seriously harm him. In 1488, he was made a Masked Lord of Waterdeep, although this was not generally known until his death.
Arthagast's biggest accomplishment was probably his positive effect on the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Dagult Neverember. They were friends, and Arthagast knew how to talk to Lord Neverember to bring out his better nature. It was a devastating loss for Arthagast when he began to suspect that Neverember was embezzling massive amounts of funds for the city treasury. Reluctantly, he backed the replacement of Neverember with Laeral Silverhand.

They met on a Harper mission and were immediately drawn towards each other. Arthagast would not call it love at first sight. He was too old for such frivolities. Instead, he would say that it was born out of mutual respect and admiration and grew into love as they saw that their missions in life were on a similar trajectory. They were married a year later.
