Oyun

Oyun is the Orisha of Life, Marriages and Personal Transformation. She is known as the Mother of the Northern River just as her sister, Kyo, is known as the Mother of the Southern River.

History

Oyun was the first wife of Olotongo who tended to his castle and everything that he requested, making her the ideal wife before being tricked by her sister Kyo into trying to ensnare Olotongo with witchcraft. She is said to have given her husband her ear to eat, an event which led to her eventual flight from his presence. After this betrayal, she fled to the northwestern corner of Exum in which she went through a transformational journey into her true power, becoming the Oyun River.   The Oyun River flows through Owusu, that is why the Owusu-Eya tribesmen are called the children of the River Oyun

Rivalry with Kyo

The rivalry of with Kyo and the Kyotic people is something of an eternal struggle. Both are viewed as river goddess and the Goddess of Life something that Owusu-Eya and the Kyosi-Eya have fought over since the time of the First Empire.

Divine Domains

As Orisha of the River, she is seen as the giver of life and is also praised at ever wedding and is given offerings. A union that is blessed by her is said to be given the fruit of a child.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Oyun's devine symbols are said to be the tears of a woman. Women of the Owusu-Eya Chieftaincy during the time of greiving paint their faces in streaks and even the Tribal scars of the Owusu are said to be designed to mimic tears streaked faces.
