Odyssean Coalition

The Odyssean Coalition is a federation of affiliated star systems that share a common government, military, and ancestry. The sublight colony ship Odyssey was launched in 2093, and visited three nearby star systems that were identified to contain habitable planets. It dropped off people and equipment at each location before moving on to the next. These three systems became the core of the Odyssean Coalition, which formed once the Solar Republic invented the Alcubierre Ring.

Public Agenda

The Odyssean Coalition's primary goal in the current era is to ensure the safety of its citizens from the Amanth. The current administration views the best way to accomplish this is through tying the human and alien economies together, but this plan of action is steadily losing support in the electorate in favour of a more forceful approach.

Assets

6 star systems with habitable planets, and dozens more for mining, siphoning, or research purposes. Military forces are large but without top-tier equipment.

History

The sublight colony ship Odyssey left Sol in 2093 with a prototype propulsion system that would eventually evolve into the modern Magento-Plasma Drive. It required little refueling and was capable of insane thrust efficiency, allowing travel to the MCC 2 system in just a few decades. Once there, it unloaded some population and equipment, refueled, and moved on to the Iota Persei system, where it emptied its remaining cargo. After some waiting for the population to get established and a new generation to be born, the ship was restocked and sent off to the GJ 96 system. It arrived only a few decades before the first starship in history, the Prometheus, was launched to retrace the path of the Odyssey.
After contact was established between Sol and the colonies, there was a crisis of culture. Everyone had known when the Odyssey left that Earth was certainly doomed, but to hear the demise of the homeworld confirmed was a shock to the system. Because of the intervening four centuries and the split in perspective that cyrosleep had created, it was decided that it would be in everyone's best interest to split the two cultures. The Odyssean Coalition was established, to guide the progeny of the Odyssey to greatness.
